But it wasn't and you almost lost to a Bendigo Bombers squad lol.

But they didnt, they get the 4 points and you get none. I am glad you rate Lloyd, Lucas, McVeigh, Hille and Fletcher as Bendigo Bombers. I think they are better than that.

Re: Umpiring Adelaide vs Essendon

To paraphrase a former New Zealand Prime Minister - It was fitting the umpiries wore yellow tonight.

All 3 umps for this game need to be dropped for next week that was the worst umpiring effort this year.

Both teams copped some shockers. The deliberate out of bounds one against Rutten was ridiculous.

Out of all the bad decissions for the night this one was actually correct. Who was he kicking it to?

I'm actually a bit surprised by the responses here. I expected to see endless threads saying the umpires are the only reason we got close. All the Hawk trolls must be in bed;)

The umps were downright terrible tonight but we probably had the better early & the crows got the better late. You just have to wonder some times what is going through their tiny brains. The same umpire pays holding the ball/incorrect disposal against lovett & then about 1 min later missed a blatent one against the Crows - how could he not have seen it?

Anyway still a hell of a lot prouder of our performance tonight than anything I've seen for the last few weeks.:thumbsu:

dont get to excited about the 9 20. Essendon probably punched and rushed through at least 5 of those shots. Will Burton get reported? I doubt it. But it was about 3 weeks worse than what McPHee got scrubbed out for a few weeks for.

Such a clever kid! <3
I think you get my drift. Compare the average age of the two squads.
The 5 named players and McPhee are the only ones with any age lol.

We were totally screwed over.
Hille marks it 45m out - no mark
Lloyd 35m out gets a massive whack across the shouler - no free kick
Lovett jumper pulled defensive 50 - no free, Adelaide goal from throw in
Knights - drops the ball in the centre of the ground, no free
Slattery - head over the ball no free, yet Burton will get 3 weeks for it, how?
And then the absolute sof crap the crows players got in comparison.
And whoever cited the Crows goal kicking, the reason you kicked 20 behinds is probably because you are a bunch of pretenders, as shown every year for the past 4 years in the finals.
That said, a side that sticks 4 lose men in defence (aka flooding) and plays rugby very rarely wins a flag. In fact for a while I thought it was Essendon v Sydney, but then I realised Sydney actually have some skill.
Hey that said you managed to beat the 3rd bottom side by 5 points, and you nearly beat the 4th bottom side last week, so you must be a bloody good team. All I know is that I can be proud my team actually played football tonight instead of whatever you call what the Crows served up.

Bomaz, bitter much?

You seem to only list the shit decisions against you. What about Goodwin being polaxed head on in the 1st qtr, what about the free to Hill in the ruck in the 1st qtr which he missed?

The umpires were shit both ways.

As for bunch of pretenders, would you prefer we lose games instead? A bit like your team???

umpire no 15......

same umpire from the game where the whole stadium boo'd him for a half of footy

He could bounce the ball brilliantly. Beyond that, it was easily the worst performance by an umpire I've ever seen. That bald ____wit should never umpire again. Has NO idea.

He had a PERFECT view of van Berlo being caught round the neck in the forward 50, yet called play on. The umpire 50 metres away had to call it.

I believe he was also the umpire who failed to call the charging free kick on Goodwin by McVeigh in the first quarter, which should have been a certain report, let alone a free kick

I don't think I can recall a game where the umpiring was worse than it was in tonight's game.

BUT - it didn't affect the result. The Bombers were on top for maybe the first 10 minutes of the game, but the Crows controlled it from there. They just kicked abysmally.

The wash-up: Crows remain unconvincing, Bombers remain shithouse.

by now ive become a bit immune to bad umpiring decisions. it just seems part of the game these days. it may b disapointin but the afl's made it part of the game.

Goodwin got a knee to the head, both players went for the ball, could've got a free kick, so what that's one decision. Hille had an arm around him, that said he was grabbed and pushed in the ruck all match but what can you do when you have Mathew Nicholls umpiring, who ____s us over every match, including in the last quarter when the game was on the line.

I wouldn't mind if you lost, but what I'd like more is if you actually played football instead of having 4 loose men every week; then again Rutten would be shown up again like he was by Fev in the DreamTeam game when there was no flooding.

We played with one loose man for 10 minutes in the first quarter. Scott Stevens started forward, but was moved back for the last half of the first quarter. At quarter time, the team was reshuffled.
At no point did we play with 4 loose men and Rutten recieved no more help than any other fullback in the league would have. He beat Lloyd convincingly in multiple one on one contests.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Burton's hit on Slattery, Goody has a suspected busted cheekbone from McVeigh yet no free ...

The holding the ball (non) decisions are the ones that are frustrating. Some were paid, some weren't, some were paid when they shouldnt have been, some were let go when they should have been paid .... guys hunting the ball, getting pinged when 23 bloke sit on them.

37 free kicks in a game of footy, one ump pays 23 yet one pays 4 ?? Its out of control, players and fans have had enough.

WTF is happening to our great game ?

Geez the umpires tonight are atrocious. And who is the umpire in the forward 50 for Essendon in the last quarter, he is about the worst I've ever seen.

Umpires dropping the ball.

Essendon were fantastic tonight, truly deserved to walk way with the 4 points but the level of umpiring displayed was an absolute disgrace. Too many incorrect decisions were made throughout the course of the match and especially in the last quarter. This was a good match to watch but it was ruined in the end by the umpring, if i was an essendon supporter, i would feel ROBBED!

I'm sure there will be a bit of talk during the week about this match and the spotlight again will be on the umpires  this is no good for footy!

Another post that is a typical of sydney supporters; the complete lack of understanding is amazing. No doubt due to the fact the you only started watching the game in 2005. Terrible post

Did you actually watch the incident, from the description I dont think so.

what game were you watching???

the umpires were dreadful all round, and we had more of everything than Essendon. should have won by 8 - 10 goals.

if you were an Essendon supporter - you might feel robbed, and currently you're just feeling too much of something else.

Totally agreed, that post of his would be in the top 2% of crap posted on here.

After going to the match I can tell you we were absolutely bewildered at the umpires.

# 15 was a disgrace, thought he must have had his Essendon guernsey in dry cleaning which is why he was wearing yellow.

Can anyone explain the goal in which Essendon were getting stuck into Mcleod? How did they get the ball when it should have been a blatant holding the ball against Essendon? TV might have got a better view than me so if someone can clear it up that would be great.

All I know is that I can be proud my team actually played football tonight instead of whatever you call what the Crows served up.

Crows - pathetic goal kicking - won nearly all other stats except frees for.

They still served up a win.

But go ahead, be proud of losing.... Whatever blows your hair back.
