Opinion Crushed the Culture

Watched the boys just walk off the ground. They were dis-heartened, emotional and spiritless.

I am 100% convinced that the actions of the week have fractured the playing group. Tonight just re-enforced to me that Brad has lost the players, as if the last 12 weeks it wasn't obvious enough.It's blatant that there is a disconnect there. It's also obvious that he has lost the members. So many of us are emotionally invested in this club and with what has happened this week I can see a large number of people not renewing memberships next year. What is there to sell? A crap game plan...limited youth and we've just moved on one of our biggest drawcards in Boomer.

Bad timing, bad taste and just an all round poor handling of the everything this week.

These things have the potential to destroy a culture of a club and I think it's been crushed.

On field it was much of the same. But the body language at each of the breaks was totally different tonight. Head down, desolate of any fight or spirit.

I caught Thomas and Anderson both looking at Boomer in the 3QT huddle with guilt in their eyes as if they'd just ran over their kids pet puppy.

9 losses in 11 games after 9-0 has created a chasm which has been filled with the grief cycle through the fact Boomer isn't gonna play nxt year.

This board seems to attract a lot of chicken littles- the players are useless; the coach is no good; the captain can't play; the recruiters haven't recruited the last 10 Brownlow medallists etc. etc. We did make the preliminary finals the last 2 years and have made the finals this year despite a crippling run of injuries but the world is coming to an end. Why not enjoy the footy instead of whinging all the time?
