I know it gets said at the start of every year but expect a much better showing from SMD next year. We were embarressed by our performance in 09 and need to regain respect. We showed against Whitefriars and NOBS that our best is good enough.

Looking forward to this forum heating up a bit in the coming weeks as pre season starts.

Tim Powell back in charge at monash blues.. Won the flag as coach at monash in 03! Would think monash might get some players back with tim back as coach!

Why does everyone hate werribee? or is that just YOUR opinion.....;)

Yep Powelly is a very good pick up for the Ashes, did a great job last time around. As someone who played in an AFL grand final he commands a lot of respect as well as being a good bloke.

Districts to start training next Monday night the 16th.

Keen to improve after two seasons with no September action. Gerard Jess re-appointed as Senior coach with Earl Henderson and Andy Witts as assistants. Premiership midfielder Paul Madden takes the dew kickers job in what is a stellar coaching line up.

early days, anyone else starting/started?

NOBS start of the 30th of Nov

New coaches in seniors, reserves, club 18 2 and club 18 north. should be an interesting year.

New renovations to outside of the ground

New strip.

Werribee start 16th as well. Should be interesting to see what numbers are like as the 18's are moving across to the VAFA and 19's are starting up again.

willy started training 2 weeks ago. good numbers, including dave lee who is back on track to play again. although a few retirements, some great young talent. could willy go 3 in a row?

No.
Eye opener if you think the talent in this comp isn't competitive enough for you to even get above the bottom 4.
There will be only 2 standout teams this year and both will not put in the same efforts in the finals last year thats for sure.

who are these top 2 sides? I think its fair to say that the team with the fewest injuries and most settled side goes well

We all know its the tiges and friars. The friars put in a couple of shockers and the tiges were carrying about 6-8 guys with varying injuries through the last 6 weeks of the season. With rupo and fitzroy going up and 2 coming down, i cant see there being much of a difference this season.

I hope there is for the fans sake so we see a couple of closer games, but lets all be honest, it'll be down to 3-4 teams again this season unless someone picks up a few bloody good recruits.

The bees and the friars. Correct
I know we struggled towards the end with getting a fit full side on the park and that showed against Fitzroy in the semi.
Friars also had 4-5 crucial players missing in the lead up and the final hurting their firepower and both will strong and hard to beat this year.
If BT and monash can stay strong it will be a good battle at the top.
