Let it be said that BT are VERY happy with getting David Matthews. We could not have hoped for a better person to lead us.

'Bedford, you're close. Matthews' record at Ormond was not quite good, it was very good. I am also led to believe he was pretty close to being reappointed had Russell Barnes not resigned from Beauy. Brian Speaking does know his stuff, but he is way off on this one & his 'applied at 7 clubs' statement. He's a vey good get for Bulleen Temp. If they don't do well it won't be for a lack of ability & effort on Matthews' part.
Where did i ever attack Matthews as a`bloke. He applied for a truckload of jobs and got knocked back on all of them...ask him yourself. Im sure hes a good fella, never said he wasnt.
what about the two unlucky losses against rupo ,and the loss against friars was a joke what a pack of scumbags and for good measure, had the worst umpy in the ammos that day'
Very good? You are kiddiing?
A losing D1 Grand final( smashed) then an absolute shocker of a loss in the first semi when they were raging odd-on favourites agaisnt Parkdale.
Missed the finals last year after some very undisciplined efforts and a couple of inexplicable losses to Whitefriars and Monash.
Am I missing something, where is the "very good' part?
Keep punching Brian!
caulfield- not for matthews too political, ground will be out of actionMatthews was considered for the following jobs
Caulfield-no interview after applying
Ormond- interview-no re-appointment
Old Camberwell-no interview after applying
St Mebourne-interview-didn't get it
Bull-temp-paydirt!!! FInally got one
These are only what I know of!
Ok, I so exaggerated a little when I said 7, but close enough.
These are the facts Dermie and it doesn't mean he isn't a good bloke.
I stand by the fact his record at Ormond was disappointing.
I played over 300 games of VAFA football before I took up umpiring. I umpired 450 plus games in A Section alone, including 5 A Section Grand Finals and was the founder and original shock jock of VAFA Sunday on 88.3 Southern FM. I now hold a very senior position in VAFA football and am a true VAFA legend. My best friend is Ormond and St Kevins legend Mike MacArthur-Allen and I make sure that everyone knows that. Im a gentleman and a scholar and expect that when Sholls leaves, I will be offered the keys to this damn competition. Thats just the introduction to my footy cv.I know everything i need to know cos Brian told me so.....
What club do you play for Brian? how do you know so much?
if you dont think anyone gets paid, you are a goose. You are full of stupid, aggressive comments...this s the ammos, no one is meant to get paid. Lots of excuses deadhead, you have an answer for everything, every one of them moronic...do us all a favour and take your butt plug elsewhere.

I expect Jonno Horn will add some other things for you(maybe not, he doesnt venture here that often, this board that is).
Gentlemen, well here it is. The definitive guide to D1 that you have all been waiting for
Lets get the big stuff out of the way first.
Premiers- Penninsula
Runners up- Old Geelong
Third –Old Mentonians( after another straight sets exit!)
Fourth- Prahran
Relegation- Sth Melbourne, Nobs
Penninsula- Firming every day with the satchel swingers after an extensive recruiting campaign. To Add two AFL players to your list in D1 is pretty handy, particularly given one is only 26. Coupled with Payze and several others from the MPNFL, they will be very hard to beat. Methinks 9-0 at home and 6-3 on the road should secure the top spot
Old Geelong- We saw glimpses of what they can do in 2007 with thumping wins against some top sides. Only had access to their ground one night per week and were badly affected. Have added significantly to their stocks and are training properly now. Will be very hard to beat if they can overcome their significant culture issues
Old Mentonians- Ahh, everybody’s friend- Straight sets-Ben Magee. Really well run club with lots of young talent and a few significant recruits from Beauy (Teasdale). Will be hard to beat at home but I reckon with Snow at the VFL may lack quality bigmen and of course, have to get the monkey of their back from last year.
Lets hope for the sake of the competition that Magee has pulled his head in.
Prahran- Just sneak fourth for mine. Have exhausted their extensive salary cap and approached everyone in the phone book over summer. Still lack depth for mine and too many of their good players are old. Players 22-32 are a worry and they will be needed in the depths of winter
Bull-Temp- Have been promising the world for years and not delivering. Seem to go missing when it matters and love to finish fifth with a lot of “what ifs”. It is easy to finish fifth. Have appointed Dave” I applied for 7 jobs and finally got one” Mathews, who didn’t set the world on fire at Ormond. Have an old list and rely on their champions a lot and again a distinct lack of quality from player 22-35 is their big worry. Will have a few big wins and finish fifth promising to deliver in 2009
Yarra Valley. Did pretty well to survive last year with a limited list. Same old names from years ago keeping them afloat and will be mid table at best
Fitzroy Reds-Probably the most talked about club in the ammos. I note that they feature very highly in the poll on this thread and obviously they expect to go well. Will survive but with a battle for mine. Massive player turnover, committee unrest and coaching departures have been their lot for the past 12 months. It is pleasing to hear they have made some inroads to their significant debt. Lack good young players who have played senior footy and the club will do well to survive as they were an embarrassment at the end of last year. Please play your kids and not your D3 legends.
Aquinas-Have had significant departures after an inglorious 2007 Grand Final. I am tipping them to just survive due to their significant home ground advantage. They also have experience in this grade and will intimidate a few sides in the mud at Great Ryrie Street in June and July.
NOBS-In real strife for mine. Will be lead by Terry ‘Grant Thomas” Scanlon who shafted the coach then appointed himself without any process. That in itself is enough reason to hope they don’t win a game but they have a distinct lack of quality players. All three of their sides have struggled for the past few years and have a lot of work to do for mine. On a very slippery slide . –Passing
South Melbourne- Any club that has been averaging barely double figures at training, surely can’t be serious? In uncharted waters as a club and have a lot of work to do for mine.- No
Well, bronkers at least Brian has the courage to make a prediction.
where are yours?
Don't you just love the guys who bag others predictions but make none of their own?
Coward.
Didnt realise you and Brian were lovers Rocky, I apologise if I offended you. I also didnt realise it takes courage to predict a footy ladder?
My prediction is that Brians predictions will be found out as crap. In terms of predicting ladder placings I will wait untill I have enough information to make an "educated" guess instead of doing a ladder based on no information at all.
As predicted, a coward. Exactly when will Mr Bravery have an "educated guess"? Round 18?
Go out on a limb and actually say something of substance and perhaps highlight exactly where Brian is ill-informed?
Go on, it isn't so hard give us a prediction?
Ask Kevin Rudd, once you say it it isn't that bad.
WRONG! The Ormond decision was made before Sth. Melbourne's. Killer was chosen ahead of Matthewscaulfield- not for matthews too political, ground will be out of action
ormond- he was loyal, but old boys club wasn't
old camberwell-nearly highest club in ammos, but the worst blokes in the comp.
south dist.- would have got the job easy, but he was loyal to ormond and waited for their
decision.
now brian speaking you dont know everything so get you facts right.
his record at ormond was good, there is a lot of clubs and coaches that would love his record,so start speaking about something you know about or piss off
what about the two unlucky losses against rupo ,and the loss against friars was a joke what a pack of scumbags and for good measure, had the worst umpy in the ammos that day
he had a good record for a club that dosen't pay players goose
wrong, matthews was waiting for ormond.and then he got shafted.WRONG! The Ormond decision was made before Sth. Melbourne's. Killer was chosen ahead of Matthews
