YB, did you mean U19?

Doubt the club would drop him from 2nds coach to U17's?

Carl, did SMD offer their U17's gig to Rabs? I heard a whisper this was a chance.
Perhaps the great man has sent himself back to the junior ranks to allow for more time to watch the Districts and the young boy on a Saturday, also allows him to concentrate more on races 5-8 of a Saturday arvo.

Eh! Orange...old BS has only told you half of his footy CV..agreed some of his mates on BF should have detailed his CV for all the newbies, so please find following the other footy credentials from the great man that he has told us previously. That's 37 years of commitment to top level football fella and don't you believe it!

So what does that prove? You tell me, and by the way I dont eat bread.

WOW!

That total resume is very impressive.

The M.Tuck & Bill Dellar of the VAFA

SMD are planning to field an U17's this year in MSJFL and (fingers crossed) a VAFA U19's next year, had a registration day last week but I don't know how many signed up. Coaching prospects included Rabs, Goran Mitjatovic, Gerard Jess just to name a few, I've been out of the loop for a few weeks so I'm really not sure who's been approached. Perhaps you might like to throw your name in the ring! We need some more of the old boys coming back to the club.

Nup - can't be bothered frankly - and I'm happy for that to be publicly known.

If you were taken seriously (as a Redder or otherwise) by anyone on this forum, I might consider it.
Red, thankyou for your kind offer but, with all respect, please feel free to bugger off and find another club in the country to annoy.

Don't waste our time, and we won't waste yours.

Ciao.

Has Jess retired harps.

Have heard from a reliable source that BT will have more big departures than just a coach. OM's will not lose as many as first stated on bigfooty and will play finals again this year.

Put up, or shut up, kid?

Means nothing if you can't put forward any names.

More good signings at the OGGS this week.

Improving by the week and expect a very competitive outfit.

Probably the underachievers of 2007 - and killed my chances of winning the AF scribes footy tipping trophy.

Strong candidate for 2nd favoritism behind the Panthers, as I can see the Hyphen and Branigan providing massive headaches for all opposition coaches.

I want to know about the mail I got last week, that Old Mentone have picked up a "superstar" in a young bloke Chris Sinclair is there any truth to this and what can you tell me about this bloke, heard he could carry OM through to the finals?

Other mail is that South Melbourne captain Paul Cheevers has put on 12 kgs over summer and only recently come back to pre-season training after a massive off season in the gym. Any truth??

l had a look at 2007 grand final at parkdale with smd and aquinas and the standard would of play was about the same as c grade reserves day match. it is a big jump up to d1 that why the c grade sides coming down to d1 have a good jump on d1 sides.
c grade is hard and fast, and the pressure is all during the game.
would to like to know what others think:D

there is no way paul cheevers could put on 12 kgs let alone 1,he should be playing in a higher grade

I think the fortunes of Old Paradians, Rupertswood and Old Carey in 2007 alone would put paid to that theory. I dropped back from A to C last season, and found C senior a tad quicker than A reserve, but obviously miles behind A senior.

I can't imagine such a gulf between D2 and D1, nor D1 and C, and the above clubs' efforts would support that. The key is having a side where players 14-22 on any given Saturday are superior to the opposition. If those guys can play clean footy, and hit targets, they don't have to be fleet-footed road-runners. It simply means the better players in the side can read the ball easily and the game plan can kick into gear.

Sinclair = gun

Fairbanks and Cochrane rolled into one...

That's not really going to shed much light for the rest of us who have no idea who these blokes are.

Maybe you should go back through all those D1 columns that you "wrote" last year Scribe and see if Fairbanks or Cochrane got a guernsey... that might refresh your memory.

Boris - I know their names, not their deeds. The fact they appeared in my column was more a testament to the efforts of the OM reporter giving me regular updates. You guys all know I play & coach on Saturdays and can't get to games outside my own grade.

When you say Sinclair is a gun and he is Cochrane and Fairbanks rolled into one, it begs the following questions:

1. where will he play? (eg. CHF? FF? HFF? On-ball? Wing?)
2. what's he play like? (eg. Quick midfielder, good hands, big kick, hard, tough, etc.)
3. what do Fairbanks and Cochrane play like?
4. why is he 2 rolled into one?

I can whack on about Chris Meighen saying he's Andrew Ramsden and David Beardsley rolled into one, but that won't mean jack to anyone who has no idea what those other 2 players are like.

Does that make sense?
