Ivanhoe are merging with Old Ivanhoe in B grade so there will be a spot available in D3. Who will replace them?

Latrobe, St Francis & Xavier will be up there and hard to beat. The battle for fourth & fifth spot will be between West Brunswick,Elsternwick, Ivanhoe & St Johns.Albert Park,Kew & UHS to fight for relegation.

from all reports, not far away.

Name at the moment is a sticking point.
I have heard that it is far from a fait accompli, with resistance from factions of both parties. It is attractive to Ivanhoe juniors, but seniors basically lose their identity. I will be surprised if it happens

Correct, from the word coming out from OI players is that it is far from being completed. Most at OI are dead set against the move but the powers that be have a different way of thinking.
This is not a merger but a take over and Ivanhoe are strongly resisting - as they should. There is nothing in this for Ivanhoe as they will not exist once the merger has gone through. OI on the other get access to the juniors and basically have to give up nothing - maybe a location change but thats it.

Why would a Section B club want to merge with a now D3 club? (no offence guys). Is it because of grounds or lack of $$$ for both clubs, or is it because Ivanhoe juniors is pretty strong.

It seems like this could be political between the two clubs if they merge or get takenover.

It's all about the kids, and nothing else.Been thru one of these before and it will end in tears.

was speaking to ivanhoe's biggest club legend on the weekend. he was pretty much talking as though it was going ahead. Plans of a super club, 1s 2s a couple of clubbies sides, under 19's & 18's plus ivanhoe have a massive junior club with multiple teams in each age group. This is OI motivation. They Expect the club could have over 600 registered players across all sides next year. Possible name Ivanhoe Community Football Club.

Good Luck to them:thumbsu:

What happens to Ivanhoe's senior playing list? Surely the 20 who won't get a senior game anymore aren't all going to hang around to play at 11:40am every week either in the 2's or 3's or 4's???

Seems like a rough deal for them.....

If that will happen, I reckon clubs like Kew, Box Hill North, Manningham, La Trobe & the likes will be rubbing their hands together with glee

Looking forward to playing for UHS-VU next year! after playing alot of footy down in tassie im looking forward to playing against some Victorian..

Who might that be Smutto???

If a merger was to happen, that would be better than anything that references the school.

Sniper, the junior club gets access to Chelsworth Park for their extra sides which is better than what they have now. Ivanhoe Grammar has control of the lease on Chelsworth Park.

Ivanhoe have established a good relationship with the junior club in the past three years and this has led to a shortage of under 19's for Old Ivanhoe. They in effect get to knock out competition for juniors.

Now that's a joke. Even though it's early, Ivanhoe had a terrible run with injuries last year after being Prelim finalists the year before and with players back and the junior talent they have, finals would be a minimum if they stay as is.

and old eltham... i hope the deal goes thro....

i rekcon 60% of seniors and ressies would boot off!! There would be a massive difference in club culture's. Ive heard OI are w***ers.... And even tho we had a few dust ups with Ivanhoe, they are good blokes.

Just wondering if there was any recent news about the possible merger ?
As theres about 6-7 blokes that were thinking about going down to have a run in the ammos and it is the closest team to us
