I put umpires in the same boat as: Parking Inspectors, Ticket Inspectors and Scout leaders. Just because we need them, does not mean you have to like them.........

Oh Lucky.....

I did not mention anyone had to 'like them', just that we should respect them and understand that the actions of all clubs can in the end make life very difficult for us in the lower grades ( staffing these roles on game day).

Having filled in on the odd occasion to do the role, I can say that it is alot easier to play and have the opportunity to physically get your point across to a disrespectful opponent, than blow a whistle and ask him to stop abusing you.

Then there is the.....shall we say.....supporter, who sits on their ass every week and offers nothing but abuse to these volunteers. Pretty courageous.

From time to time, they will get it wrong. Also, from time to time frustration builds and the odd comment about a poor one is made from a player or supporter.....i doubt that is the real issue. It's more about the continued abuse that deters anyone from volunteering their time to help us all play.

If you're putting scout leaders in there, you might as well chuck in Catholic priests as well!

I asked you to fill a roll no more than 2 weeks ago and you gave me no love.

On another topic, you obviously got home alright the other night

Welcome back to the fold LD. I had to decline your request of boundry umpire as I was missing in action from a shoulder injury. You, no doubt, were appreciative of my efforts as interchange steward though? ;)

It is good to have Lions Den back. Now all we need is Mark Harvey from West Brunswick to return to the forum!!!

Who's Playing and who do you tip tommorow. I CBF looking it up.

I know the Hoes are at home and of course we will win...

Although we will miss a couple more with injury (the place is cursed), got some GREAT ins this week...

On the topic of umpires. it took me a couple weeks to accept that the umpiring in Div3 is not flash... But you just gotta get on with it! Ammo's and local footy is in desperate need of quality umpys, we need to change the perception and accept them abit more however hard it can be.

Just came from an early morning dib dib dob to my confession at my local church with father fred fiddler and logged straight on to Big footy to fully compliment my morning of moral grounding.

With the reception Lions Den received i thought it's time to dust of the shoes, give the heels a click and float through this forum like Ken Railings from Strictly Ballroom. This weeks burning question - Who will take home the coveted Dick Peoples cup this week between West Brunny and Ivanhoe? And will the great man be there to present it???

Unfortunately he will be tied up attempting to get out of the Werribee carpark and wont be present. Things are looking a little more positive however on John Curtin being there to present the medal named in his honour to BOG.

Great to see that Jack will be changing the medal to the Mark Harvey medal. Good to see you getting a few kicks LD, unlike your former Watsonia counterparts at our club!!

Just to correct you LD........

The J.C. medal is for best player in the twos........the Sampson dinner set goes to best on in the ones . Hopefully both will be there to make the presentations to the respective winners.

WBAFC's own club legend Sherry will be trotting out for his long awaited 99th game too. Seems the Jock Curtin medal is the sort of silverware to make men reconsider retirement. :D

Hoes were very lucky to get out of jail against West Brunny and will need a more consistent effort in the next few weeks.

If we can improve there is the opportunity to break away frm the pack in teh next month.

Agreed Wamba ....lucky to get away with the 4 points on Saturday as we only played one good 1/4 of football. West Brunny had outplayed us until then for sure.

With a few to return from injury and some past senior players returning to the club over the next couple of weeks the depth of the club should hopefully improve.

We have a very big month ahead playing teams that currently sit in the top 6 - so we will find out how we are going after we have played everyone once. Starting with a massive away game this week against St J's.

cheers big rig...in the team list from the VAFA, it's spelt G-e-r-e-m-i-e. Want me to rectify the situation? I'll adhere to the correct spelling now

by the way, any feedback guys, don't hold back, just go mental

My bad scribe spelling is correct in record, Stuart Pattern likes to be referred to as danger however you won't be seeing his name for a few weeks, Paul russell likes pistol but again won't be seeing his name for a few more either

Elsternwick play Albert Park this week for the 'Tom Brain Cup'. Will Sir Lunchalot be present to hand out the trophy named after him or will Arfur brain go elsewhere to imbibe his share of frothys?Either way, the game should be a cracker.
