Judging by the score. Luck is a word that comes to mine. But as they say - you make your own luck!!

All 9 goal scorers were lucky? Mt L played with 19 fit players for over a half of the game. They showed alot of heart and luck did not play a part so without you being at the game it would be best if you kept your throw away lines to yourself . Well fought out to both teams and I am sure they (A.P & MTL) will have a major impact come finals time.

Both are still a chance to play in the elimination final, so one may not have a big impact. When a side kicks 13.1 to 10.17 of course luck plays some part in the game. They may have played with a lot of heart and been courageous but to win when you have half the scoring shots is due to an element of luck.

maybe there was a particular passage of play that could have contributed to this scoreline i.e. albert park running into an open goal & mt lilydale tackling at the last minute & ball skewing off for a behind??

1st. West.B 56points 246%----B.H.N(a)--Rich.C(h)
2nd Kew 52points 138%----Rich.C(a)--Mt.L(h)
3rd. Mt.L 48points 130%----Nth.B(h)--Kew(a)
4th. S.F.X 46points 154%----E.Park(h)--S.Morn(a)
5th. A.Park 42points 125%----S.Morn(h)--E.Park(a)

West.B will finish top just as weve known all year and should account for the next two easily. Kew most probably will end 2nd, but the final round against the mountain men could be one to watch. Mt.L will gain a little more % before facing Kew, which if they won could finish 2nd, but loose and could end up 5th. S.F.X should finish with two wins, but E.Park are playing really well and could trouble them. A.Park, similar to S.F.X as they 'should win both but E.Park only real trouble maybe.
I believe with the bag of mixed results over the last month that the finals will be an open affair, and after being one of the many who had penciled in West.B for a flag I now retract it!

Spot on. All 5 sides could lay claims to winning it all.

From the last few weeks results (seniors and reserves) it seems Kew and SFX (And RC for that matter) have had a drop off in numbers towards the end of the season? I guess everyone would be back in for finals!

MTL were unlucky. They were unlucky not to kick 14 straight if it wasn't for a normally reliable left footer just missing.

Yes, and AP were unlucky has their reliable goal kickers missed 17 EASY ONES. Ap were quite unlucky that they didn't win by 78 points. 27 - 0 162 to 14.0 84.

Similar to last week AP 20.4 (great kicking) v WB 31 scoring shots, poor kicking and as a result WB lost the game (sorry, AP won the game), no sour grapes from WB, beaten by a better side on the day.

Who will win the D4 b&f and who would be the favourite from your club, having been beaten by everyone the best i have seen so far was Irving from WB, i know he will have alot of competition from his own side but he is a standout, also thought Horne from Kew was very very impressive.
Syndals favourites would have to be A.Davis, P.Agnello or F.George.
Tough to split them apart for the club B&F although i doubt we will poll many (if any) votes in the leauge:p.

Horne, Pearson, Dishon or Irving.....

From RC, if anyone... Nigel Camelliri.

it just shows anyone can win on their day football is the sort of game where a team that is bit flat can easily get rolled
AP starts pinging from everywhere against WB but then the radar goes astray the next week

I do not think that MtL would give a rats cracker about AP inaccuracy. I reckon they would be happy with the 4 points and that is what the history books will say. MtL defeated AP. Anyway good luck to both sides for the finals.:thumbsu:

Some big names absent from the WB teamsheet last week:
Irving, Sudholz, Thomson, Pietsch to name a few.

The three blokes named their best (Gartlan, McGuggan, Rees) had never been named in their best before and Rees booted his first goal for the year... and 6 more to follow.

AP have still got to be rated very highly. They've beaten all the other finalists recently other than MtLily, and they'll be itching for another shot at the Mountain men after that scoreline.
I reckon SFX would be spewing at that result as it may mean they have to face the boys from Lakeside in an eliminator!

Rees kicked a bag in the 2's a few weeks ago and then got injured. AP still might get a shot at ML - it will all come down to Round 18 against Kew. If Kew win then ML will play AP in knockout final. I apologize Yellow Blue - I wasn't knocking your performance at all in fact looking at Gibson, Rhodes, Roberts, etc not playing it was a great effort. As the 5 sides are so close together it may come down to has the most players on the park. At the moment AP seem to have the least amount of injuries of the group.

it seems that richmond centrals have been competitive in most games this season. how far away are they realistically from finals action?

there was a time (i think 2005/2006?) when they were perennial cellar dwellers - they must have improved enormously since then!!

lakey11, maybe you can help with this...

Yes it's true, RC won only 1 senior game over that 2 year period, but solid recruiting has made us competitive the past two seasons.

This year, at 5-2 we at RC thought we were sitting pretty. Unfortunatly for us, injuries, work committments and OS travel have taken their toll on the second half of our season. Rest assured we'll be back in '09 bigger and better than ever!

Go Centrals!

And go the RC Ressies... They've got big warm ups before the finals against Kew and WB. Both of whom we lost to by 6 or so goals earlier in the season. We're kind of glad that AP cant make the finals though... Their ressies have been on fire as much as their seniors. Obviously it goes hand in hand when you get a bunch of senior players back in the fold! I never got an explanation as to why Venables was playing in their ressies a few games back?

From my educated viewpoint with the absence of the abovementioned players, Mt Lilydale came with a specific plan to close down the Albert Park's midfield ability to run, which they did very well for the whole game.

The goalkicking was obviously the eventual difference in the result. Albert Park could have put the game out of reach on several occassions but kept leaving the door open. Mt Lilydale made the most of their opportunities which the created very well to have most of their shots within 20m of goal.

Albert Park were without a few "stars" as well, but just did not appear to be able to break down the close attention they received. No 24 from Mt Lilydale did an excellent job on keeping Cowboy down on his normal output, whilst picking up possessions himself and with what appeared to be close checking on Dallas and Maunder, the Falcons could not break open the game. They went from being the hunter to the hunted, and only came up short by two points with 13 more scoring shots!

Overall an entertaining game to watch

I would think the larger finals ground would give Albert Park the edge in a re-match but you could not deny Mt Lilydales belief & discipline to their team plan for the day

Yeah Stewie, just like Waz says, but I can take you back to 2001....relativly competitive, but we started slipping then. From there on, it was down hill. Regularly noted as the worse performing club in the Ammo's.....until Danny Hickey (Snr Coach) came back, and he has made an enormous difference. You just can't beat old legends coming back to help. Unfortunatly, our seniors didn't quite make it this year, but we have a great crop of kids in the two's. I reckon we are a good CHF and Full back away from finals. We have some good forwards, but need a dominant CHF and also a solid full time FB. Good recruiting next year will take us there.

Horne has had a good year but has played a lot more forward this year. 72 goals from a small forward is an exceptional effort.
