Must fly the Syndal flag - Levi Phipps (midfield) dispite injuries deserves nomination, George has had another solid year at half back and also Ross Bennett (Utility).

Congratulations to JJ who plays 150 games with Syndal tomorrow and also Ian Bingham (Bing) who has decided to retire after this weeks game - Bing has been a great player for the club.

Manny

Huge effort from Manny and the boys, first time all year we have had close to our best side and played some good footy, brews flowed long and hard!!!! (also must say thanks for the nomination manny, very flattered)

Well done to the boys at Syndal. Any win is a good win but when you kick 10 goals in the last quarter it makes all the more enjoyable.

Big game this week between Kew and Mount Lilydale as will decide the make up of the 5.

Pretty enjoyable game at Mt. Lilydale on the weekend. NB were missing 7 players from the previous weeks team so expectations probably weren't that high going in - but a very strong effort against a pretty good outfit in the Mountain Men.

Will need to play some good team footy again this week against Syndal who would be 'up and about'.

The goal kicking award is given after the 18 rounds but they keep updating your goals throught out the finals. if 100 is kicked it will be aknowledged.

Penny and Nuske would drop down the list.

I'd like to know if he has actually been down to see any of the above players play a game

Penny and Nuske would drop down the list.

I would drop Bell (k), Rhodes (ml), Piestch (wb), Viola (ep), Penny (bhn)and Nuske (rc)

I would add D.Viola (ep), O'Connell (k), Levi (syndal), Dallas (ap), Hansen (ap) and Monagle (wb)

Levi has only played 9 games and O'Connell 7. Interesting to see whether you could include them with fewer games than the rest of them.

O'Connell has been a real find for us and has been in great form over the last month.

He played at Blacks in 06/07.

C'mon! Still no new D4 team of the year(entire side) nominations. Sneako if you are such an expert on all things D4, why not contribute your thoughts? Crazybear, RM(yours was too early for consideration), Undertaker,Waz, Spy,Drongo, tunnellball, Abba,Ozza, Stewie, YellowBlue et all lets see your latest thoughts. Dont forget coach of the year either.

I cannot comment on mine as it remains secret til published, and re-submitting my top ten would give too many clues. I will say however that at least half of those ten would retain their places in an end of season re-take.

B Camillieri (rc) Brown (ap) Lenders (sfx)

HB. Hansen (ap) Piestch (wb) George (sth)

W. Bennett (ap) Monagle (wb) Gibson (wb)

HF. Horne (k) O'Connell (k) T.Pearson (sfx)

F. Spencer (sfx) D.Viola (ep) Thomson (wb)

R. Bell (k) Irving (wb) Cookson (bc)

I/C - Rhodes (ml), Gibson (ml), G. Pearson (sfx), Dallas (ap)

Coach - Peoples (wb)

Capt - Irving (wb)

Very tough job, I based it on who has played well against us this year. Apologies to Ruck Machine but when you played against us you did a great job but we didn't have any key forwards playing. Brown killed us when we played them in Round 14.

Obviously I tried to pick players relatively close to the positions they play in their team.

Tough job!!

It is a very tough job.
I will just throw in these names-

Ortlipp Liston Hickey
Kane Irvine Haysey
Moyes Wall Pizzari
Penny Sudholz Price
Nuske Whiting Fradkin

McINdoe
Russo
Phipps

inter Truslove Dimakopolous Gall Mountey

and probably many more i have forgotten - a very tough job, and a talent laden year

not a bad second side and several with strong claims to the first team

I will just throw in these names- not saying any of your are wrong

Sudholz
Pizzari
Liston
Ortlipp
Kane
Russo
McIndoe
Wall
Nuske
Whiting
Moyes
Hickey
Phipps
McDermott
Penny
Gall

I can only go on who we have played, Phipps would definitely be 23rd man. A very, very good player!!

Russo is a good player but the Pearson boys were a lot better both times they played us. Sudholz is a very good player but again didn't do much when he played us. Gall killed us the first time and I suppose I would swap him for Rhodes. Penny only kicked 1 against us but has kicked 52 for the year - also which forward would you take out. Is he better than Horne, T.Pearson or Thomson who would be the smallish forwards.

The best thing about these teams is that they are all subject to personal opinion. There is no right or wrong.

2 that every person would have would be Irving and Horne!!

sorry edited my post while you were replying.

you are correct- it is all subject to personal opinion- it is a good way to create some debate

Just remember a Team of the Year should be based on a season's work, or at least it always has been in the past years.
I noticed earlier players who had played less than 1/2 the season were being put forward. They may be gun players but the amount of consistency for your team over the year should be paramount.

As to playing onballers on wings and flanks; I am against this. The best player in thier chosen position is the best way to be fair to all.

D. Penny played most of the year as an on baller who went forward for a rest. Probably kicked as many goals when on ball as up forward. How you classify that I don't know. All I know is it has been a super effort on his part to be tagged and double teamed every week yet still play every game this year on a knee that needed surgery back in March.
