if you guys do get into the five, then you'll probably be playing kew in the first round. fingers crossed!

So wiz, sorry waz, based on your quote your 'boys' are a cert to make 3rd spot. Surely Kew and MTL would beg to differ but I guess there's nothing wrong with being cocky when your from a club that has never to played finals in almost a century...sorry mean a decade!!

Correct... and for SM to make the finals, we would need to beat MTL this Saturday, and since Kew play Latrobe, then we'd have a better than average shot at finishing third wouldn't you think?

I see the boys at North Brunswick had another big win in the two's. 197 points. The stacking must be working!

By the way, if they stacked their two's, the boys left in the one's must have played really well to knock off Swinburne in what was a 17 goal turnaround from the first time they met. And if they had have kicked straight (11.20 to 11.5) the margin could have been alot bigger.

Now a few of you guys have to have a hard look at yourselves.

4 wins in a row for the NB seniors. First time in about a decade.

We must be stacking the seniors as well.

What happened to kew on the weekend?

A week after pushing Albert Park to the limit they are pushed by the 2nd worst team in the VAFA. Not the kind of form you want going into finals. Looks like a 2 horse race to me.

Pretty sure they kicked 30 behinds - so that may have had something to do with it.

In any case - its certainly not beyond BHN to push a top side. Particularly if they got a player or two back from injury.

46 scoring shots (only 6 less than AP had aginst Chaddy), not a bad effort, just needed to kick straighter.

Hopefully the radars are on this week against LaTrobe....

BHN had a crack, and also missed a few goals, the function they were setting up looked like it was going to be a cracker also....

Crofty,

When will Horne be back in the line up?

Kicking for goal certainly was a struggle for both sides, I had 6 shots into that breeze in the last quarter but could only snag the one goal.

Function that night was indeed a cracker.

Lt.U came out to Mt.L over the weekend and the day started well with an absolute cracker of a game in the 2's. A goal late in the game gave the away side a win. But heaps of positives for our mob heading into 2's finals for '09.
The 1's game was alot closer than the 40 point winning margin portrayed. The fittest/fastest side in d4 I would have to say and Lt.U are the best side in D4 footy, make no mistake about that! Really happy with them for sticking around in good numbers for a few brews afterwards.
Now the mountain boys have a tough two weeks to try and get our 1's and 2's playing finals in the same year for the first time.

Lets hope not. :D

Talk on the WRFL Div 2 site is that Point Cook will be getting their first senior team up and that they will be joining the ammos. There could be some monster road trips in D4 next year.

Fast growing area... Like Berwick(SFX) /Ringwood... they would do well.

Would also explain the push for 12 teams in D3... it makes room for 11 in D4.

Tips for Round 17:

The Chad @ SM - Tough road trip late in the season for Chaddy. SM will win comfortably - 10 goals.

BHN @ Man - Man slipped up last week after playing very good footy for a month. BHN have an opportunity to get up ahead of them on the ladder. BHn by 1 goal.

MTL @ RC - RC by 1 point in what should be a real fireworks display.

NB @ AP - AP still need to keep winning to finish top of the ladder. AP by 10 goals.

EP @ Swin - The wind has left the swinburne sails. The students will get back to late night fridays, and EP will come away with a road win by 3 goals.

Latrobe @ Kew - I'd say this was match of the round if there was a chance of elimination, but it'll still be a cracking game. Kew have RC breathing down their necks ;)
Latrobe by 4 goals.

Reserves - SM, BHN, RC, NB, EP, LT

Round 17 Tips

South Mornington vs Chadstone - SM by 12 goals
Box Hill North vs Manningham Cobras - BHN by 1 point
Richmond Central vs Mt Lilydale - MtL by 1 goal
Albert Park vs North Brunswick - AP by 4 goals
Swinburne Uni vs Eley Park - SU by 2 goals
Kew vs La Trobe Uni - LTU by 10 goals

I would be shocked if Kew got beaten by 10 goals. Their only loss at home over the last 2 years was to Albert Park by a point. Latrobe beat Kew in round 1 by less that a kick. I would expect more of the same.

Ruck Machine must not have liked what he saw of Kew last weekend.

Kew do play very well at home, too bad for them finals are at neutral grounds. Went out in straight sets last year.

Kew were ok (missing Horne and Phipps hurts) but I just think La Trobe will be too strong.

has anyone heard if assumption are joining the ammos next yr?
assumption are currently looking for a ground but have everything else in place sponsors, players, committee etc. Marcellin tried a merger with them this week but didn't work out, so looks like they will be joining D4 next year if they can find somewhere to play in the city. if not it may be trips to Kilmore each week

What was the sticking point with marcellin - they seem a very strong club to be coming into D4?
