The Bulleen Cobras officially changed it name to Manningham Cobras AFC last night at the clubs AGM.
Personally - it is a great move by the club:thumbsu: to make us more independant in the local community - but i might be a bit biased.:D

What a decision, must have been some great thinking at the club to copy the approach taken by the club (Whitefriars) which co-tenanted the ground this year and named its U19's the Manningham Sharks some 12 months ago.

yeah except this was discused at the agm last yr, and decided that it was too soon to just change things on the spot. its been a 12 month process to get it changed. trust me we never copied whitefries and hopefully they are not a co tennent of koonung park anymore.

we only found out they were the manningham sharks in round 1 2008 and at the end of the day no one really cares about whitefries under 19's take it to your own forum
 
Swinburne to kick of their 2009 D4 campaign with a extraordinary Annual General Meeting this sunday.It has been described on their website as a critically important meeting. This can't be good for Razorbacks and word on the street is they are in struggle town.
 
Any news out of this Swinburne AGM? Was held on Sunday I believe.

Plenty of new coaches getting around in D4, should make for an interesting season.

Spoke to Swinburnes President today who works with same comapany as me and all is well. Extra AGM was held due to poor numbers at the first - 37 in attendance second time round.

Congrats to Peter McBrearty on becoming the new HC down at RC. Got the pre-season off to a flying start from what I hear the other day. I'm sore for not being there!

Bad luck to Manny for not being re-appointed.

The draw certainly seems more evenly spread this season? Though I think we get to play chadstone (chadstone?) twice in 4 weeks in mid-season.

Albert park v Richmond Central in round 1. The last 3 times we've played those guys the match has been decided by < 1 goal. My feeling is they'll be expecting to win it all this year, given the great form they showed in the second half of the last season.

Of course the first release is just a draft and it will surely be re-released, like last year. I hear some clubs have been drawn against each other twice in consecutive weeks!

I assume the draw consisted of 12 teams with La Trobe and Swinburne coming down?
 
When does everyone commence training? Kew kick off the 2009 season tomorrow night under newly appointed coach George Latouff.
With stage 4 water restrictions on the horizon it looks as though it could be another interesting pre season in regards to ground availablilty.

Mt Lilydale start training on Monday, December 1st under the new Senior coach in Greg Finkemeyer.

Manningham (just had to correct myself there!) Cobras not doing anything until the NY. Just a players get together to sort out the pre-saeason schedule this week...

a few of the boys have been doing some owrk on their own, but nothing formal..

Whats with the night game???? is this something to do with the gp, or was it set up for a blockbuster first game of the season? Played a few nights games over the past few years and they are fantastic!!!!! Heaps of atmosphere
