Unless he'd changed his mind Diesel was giving it away.

Lovely guy off the field, personally I found him a little inconsistent on it. However, I knnow I've got one colleague on here who will attest that umpiring the ressies is not as easy as the boundary line critic would have you know it is.

Carry a whistle and don't be afraid to use it! :)

good hard fast game played out at latrobe...the ground was in perfect condition. result could have gone either way in the end but latrobe probably played more consistant footy for the most of the day, while we (kew) played well from about halfway thru the second quarter and maybe just ran out of legs in the last 10 due to having no one on the bench (no excuses though).... pretty sure latrobe had a few out of action as well.

only disappointing part of the day, apart from the loss of course, was the malfunctioning of the scorebaord which had kew in front at the end of the game and for the majority of the last quarter in the total column. no wonder my latrobe opponent looked at me strange when i agreed with him that the should blow the siren about two minutes out when i thought we were a few up rather than a few points down. i only worked out we were actually behind with about 1 minute to go.

oh well thats amatuer footy i suppose...

It was tough hard footy and Kew just ran out of legs, had to put a bloke back on in the last quarter after he was knocked out cold in the 3rd term, had less than nothing on the bench, La Trobe run and carry very well but it was a good game of footy.

In all of the reserves games A-D4 why haven't the goal kickers and best players been listed on the web site?

SM x 6 goals (Will be interesting to see if SM can/will travel this year)
RC x 4 goals (Will RC's new look team make an impact against a good Swinburne outfit?)
EP x 8 goals (Are getting stronger and stronger, new players to line up this week?)
LTU x 5 goals (Will be too strong for the mounties)
Kew x 6 goals (Unlucky to lose last week, will make amends this week)
AP x 4 goals (AP will just prove too good for BHN)

I notice that Swinburne have picked up Tilly Yaman from Balwyn, was VFL listed at Collingwood last year and kicked 8 on the weekend.

Early favourite for comp best and fairest?

My spies tell me the following about young Tilly;

When asked to pay his subs at his local cricket club this year, he cracks the sh*ts and up and left!

But should still be a very good player in D4 - hope he doesn't walkout on the Razorbacks when asked for his yearly subs!!!!! :p

Which brings forth an interesting question;

If players are required to pay subs, if one player does not is this constituted as a player payment outside of VAFA rules?

Wouldn't surprise me if Swinburne create the leading goal kicker for the season, their ground is very short. Shorter even than Ferndale park.

I wonder where he was playing on Saturday, he is about 5 foot 7.

I didn't notice any great standout for swin in the forward line. They had a couple of good half backs hitting leading forwards though...from the back of the center square!

considering there are loads of players being paid in the vafa anyway(and yes even in lower grades) I doubt it would create too much of a fuss.

Flower, it has nothing to do with the VAFA. If a club wants to waive membership or subs then so be it. In the long run the club has to pay the affiliation fees. They can pay this from whatever methods they can.

There would be a lot of players running around where fees are paid for them. No money changes hand so no rule is broken. It is like clubs in the higher grades (or lower in some cases) getting jobs for players in the business world. Is this against the rules - No!!

Tilly on the w.e he had a solid game only played in the forward line for 3 quarters, Still only settling in, only very new to the club, cricket is whole differnt ball game cant see that happening. Cant wait to see him break games open through d4, with his kicking power and endurance through the midfield, in my experience dont think there would be many players in d4 able to keep up with a 20 yr old ex VFL listed player may only be short but very strong.
Any other news around other clubs picking up few new faces? LaTrobe got few new faces back....?

Read back through... I believe we have a few ex-VFL types playing in D4 this season.

I'm still working on getting the D9 (Malloy) down to training ;)

Fair call. I wasn't trying to be a smart ar$e (which I usually am) but just asking the question.
Answer provided explains.

Just about every ground is bigger than SJPark! KB is probably 10m longer?

You should pop over for a look on Thursday night... Its only 5 mins drive from Swins home ground.

It would be interesting to know why a guy with his ability would be playing D4 footy. Of course we did have Papaluca a couple of years ago but he was trying to get into the VFL, not just fresh out of it.

He must have some very good mates down at St James?$?$?

Guys, was speaking to Swinny Pres and he informed me that Tilly just showed up at training recently, lives in the area I think. It appears the guys just wants to play footy without the pressures of higher levels....good on him, not doubt he could have put his hand out for $$$.

I can also tell you Swinny Pres is still pinching himself, these players do not just turn up on your door step.

Good Luck to all this weekend.

Manny

Hi folks,

First post for the year. Was just wondering with the VAFA being the family competition if people believe there is a line people can and cannot cross when they are in the crowd?

What is acceptable to say as a spectator to players or officials?

Where do people think the line is?

Is there one?

I heard some spectators on the weekend threatening to kill a player and his family after the game... Is this normal or abnormal.

Just curious.

Afterthought
