One of the girls mentioned a no tackle rule which will make the game closer to gaelic football than Australian rules. The Australasian women's Gaelic football team is the current world champion in women's Gaelic football, there's already a viable international contest so why bother with International Rules ? The point of IR is to get an even contest. That's not possible in mens sport because an Australian Gaelic team couldn't match it with the Irish nor could an Irish Australian football team match it with the AFL. The only explanation is a growing appreciation for International Rules as a discrete sport, at least in Ireland. From the Irish girl's point of view, the same girls can represent in Gaelic and International Rules. Unless it's a sign of things to come for International Rules, why would the Irish bother ? Another thought, I wonder if a game between the Women's Australasian Gaelic team and the women's Australian International Rules would be worth while.

The Australian Team is combined with the Aus Gaelic Team, most of the players play both.
