Good kid and the lure of him playing a premiership and be captain will be too much for him
i much prefer seeing players like him stay at there clubs considering how much teams pay to develop them and with saints young team if they all take less well you guys are looking good

We also saved some money this year by dumping knobel and Black and getting fiora and ackland for about 100-200K less

Ned Kelly was just on SEN about 5 minutes ago discussing this very thing, Dal Santo that is. He was asked is Dal Santo worth $550,000 and his response was no.

He is not worth that much to St.Kilda, and at this stage he is not worth that much to any other club as no-one knows his ability to consistently perform at this stage.

Ned said that he may be worth that amount to another club depending on future years/contract conditions, best and fairests...... But that was just Manager speak.

I dont think the Tigers should look at him, and personally if St.Kilda were to be trading anyone as bait and to relieve salary cap pressure, I think it would be Goddard.

I liked GT's comments to the media, and Im paraphrasing.

"Bally and Reiwoldt were all offered twice what they are getting at the Saints so I'd hope Dal would stay with us."

A bit of subtle pressure on the kid to know that his teammates have stayed for club success. Jon Brown is someone Dal should ring if he's having doubts on whether or not to remain... :) What a clubman J Brown is...!!!
Best player to watch in the AFL IMHO.

the tigers should look at him ...god knows we have to somehow close the gap between us and the stKildas/geelongs, but in the end i'd say: let's draft our own.

Goddard could get sucked into an endless black hole and it wouldn't affect, St.Kilda noticably

im hearing all this crap with nearly every team wanting to make a play at him and what do you guys think he is worth because for him to stay he obvously going to have to take less then elsewhere which i beleive the kid will do considering if he left he could miss out on 3-4 premierships. thoughts plz

A bit premature. If you win 1 flag that would be great. St Kilda, Geelong, Melbourne and Footscray just don't win flags. They always find a way to self destruct.

Thanks mate, your last flag was when?

4 years before your only flag, which is almost 30 yrs ago.

anyway back to Dal Santo, if he keeps going like this I'll be betting on him for the brownlow in a few weeks. cant think of many other midfielders getting as much media attention as he is, which definitely helps ur cause. only risk is how many votes would be taken by the other saint players, cos he's got to compete with more star team mates than Buckley, Goodes, Ricciuto & judd.

I already chucked a bet on him when he was at $35, talk about value. :)

He has put in some good peformances this year and I really do enjoy watching him play. Like all the good players he seems to have time to spare when he has the ball.

I would be pretty disappointed if he was to go, it would also be a little surprising but we will have to wait and see. I expect that he will be the next St Kilda player to sign a new deal at Moorabbin.

If he keeps going the way he is in a few weeks it won't be worth putting a bet on he'll be at such short odds, i had money on him last year, had an opportunity this year pre season when he was at about $80, but decided to go with Ball instead. oh well, see how the season pans out it's only early days yet.

I reckon he'll stay. I mean why on Earth would he want to go to a #@%@$^ hole like Collingwood, despite the bags of Cash he would be getting.
Saints are an stable club and he'll re-sign hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'd argue that Luke Ball is our most important player, but Dal has certainly improved a lot over the past couple of years; his ability to find time and space this year has been phenomenal but with all the extra attention there will no doubt be rival clubs studying him a bit more closely and he may be found out a la Milne (who was at one stage almost impossible to tackle, gets caught a lot nowadays).

Until then however let's savour what we have now.

Agree that BJ might have to go to loosen cap pressure etc, he's got good skills etc. but for a #1 pick he has no football brain whatsoever. Would be a lot better off under a different coach perhaps.

He is still young and hasn't come near his potential. Saints will develop him more and then he'll become a star player for the club.

I hope he stays at the Saints since I am a bit anti-poaching, but really, 3/4 premierships?

Counting your chickens a bit early I think, and some of your better players won't be playing in 2 more years due to age, let alone four more years.

He's a tiges supporter.

Some of the older players who will/may retire over the next few years. (basically anyone who was still in the '97 premiership loss)

Peckett will be sorely missed, always gives great run down the wing.
Harvey, one of the biggest legends of the modern era, cant be replaced but we have good blokes like ball, dal santo and hayes to fill the spots.
Jones, Don't see him retiring for a whie still.
Hudgton, Glue of the backline, will be missed but replaceable with Fisher.
Thomson, Never rated him anyway, at least not for the last two years he's been taking up valuable space in the 22. GT overrates his impact.
