Dal Santo?

No idea where all the hate is coming from, absolutely great player and a gun on his day. One of my favourite non WC players.

Rosa for Dal Santo?

If I remember rightly Zekey boy was one of the first skunk supporters on here after Dal when he was out of contract last time, even managed a photoshop image (had dal in a Skunk jumper)...Zekey boy moves and changes with the breeze and we all wait with baited breath for his next contribution:p:eek:
As i have said before Dal Santo is a hack, forget about him.:thumbsu:
but don't forget about Zeke.:)

He looked very promising at the time.

Hasn't really come on at all. Very disappointing output for a player with such huge wraps.

Wow, you really put me in my place.

I'll just be silent now.

Carry on.

No need to put you anywhere. You ran along took a big leap and landed in a pile of 'your place' with that particularly cool comment "I am Carlton."

You were one of the main people that had wraps on him.
But you are not a total loss Zeke, you did have an eye for talent then.
As I have said many times I just hope that more like you drop off him, especially the other clubs.

ALl I know is, every time he comes out of contract, teams throw truckloads of cash at him.

Ever thought he apprears 'soft' and doesnt get hard ball and hit a lot, is because he is so aware and smooth, that nobody can get near him?

Watch him play 4 games in a row (not just the highlights of a bad game) and come back to me. Players can't lay a hand on him. No need for 4000 hard ball gets, he is first to the ball and too smooth to get hit.

p.s that checkside?? next quarter he was in the same spot and nailed a drop punt.Ir's called called learning from your mistakes, you twit.
You better tell Kane Cornes that no one can lay a hand on him. Any half decent tagger should be able to null his influence on a game.

Dal isn't a bad player and would be on any lists best 22.
Yes he needs to improve on his hard ball gets, he isn't a in and under player, but this doesn't make him soft, never seen him back out of a contest and he has a go at the hard ball gets we he has too, he just isn't very good at it and is better as a receiver to set up the play!
Im sure he is going to come out fired up this week and i wish him well (but hope they loose, as they are playing my team) anyway we would happily have him. (or any other half decent player for that matter.)

p.s as for that shot on goal, he redeemed himself, by learning from his mistake, who hasn't had a shot on goal in the heat of the moment, that wasn't the correct desision, at least he learned from his mistake and slotted her home.

You don't belong here - - you speak too much sense!

What a check-side on the run?

Clearly he doesnt.

No, a general shot from 40 on the run from the pocket. Checkside wasn't best choice, but as stated several times; HE LEARNT FROM IT AND MADE IT THE NEXT TIME AROUND. We'll leave the checksides for Milne ;)

I think a good trade that will accommodate both teams nicely would be Collingwoods first round pick - which I think will be between 9-11 plus Chris Egan. Dal Santo is a class player and would thrive under a good coach especially Malthouse. I just think he is played out of position at St Kilda. If this happens next year plus perminant midfield rolls for Thomas and Didak we will have a starting midfield next year that looks like this.

Didak + Thomas on the wings

Pendlebury + Dal Santo + Swan in the middle

Fraser or Wood in the ruck.

This will rival any midfield in the competition.

No, what I meant was that generally players struggle to catch him out when there is a contest for the footy. i.e get him holding the ball/smother a kick/affect a possession.

He has been flogged by some good taggers this year, that I am not debating. Taggers have stopped him gettin the ball, full stop. But on the odd occasion he does get the ball under a tag, he still uses it very well.

Influence can be nullified, quality of possession has not been.

Tell him he's dreaming...

Dal not for sale. Having an average season is all. IMO he is so clean with the footy, he doesn't need to have 30 touches a game to influce like some other mids. Not to say he has been doing that this year, but i think he is capable of it.

Any of the 15 teams would take him, lets face facts. He just needs to get back on track.

Except Carlton, they have already completed their tankfield.

He hasn’t been at his best this year. I think his best comes in a good side because he is a bit of a receiver but he is quality footballer and I’d love him at Collingwood. He is worth a first rounder and a fringe player. I don’t know where this soft business comes from. He doesn’t tackle and by his own admission his team mates want more defensive pressure from him but that doesn’t make him soft. I have never seen him shirk anything.

At this point though I’d rather Collingwood look for someone with more pace or more inside game. Luke Ball would be nice.

Saints fans will sook but he might be suffering St. Kilda syndrome where good players plateau early and don’t rise much again until they leave. Takes a Robert Harvey maniac to overcome it. I thought Freo had taken this mantle but Saints might be making a late charge to regain the throne post GT’s culture clean.

.............part from his top ten finishes in the 2005 and 2007 Brownlow medals.....

but other than that...................

Odd, I always thought tackling was one of his strong points, and in basketball terms he has great lateral movement and quick hands.

His weakness is he finds himself 20 metres behind his direct opponent running back, a bit of an Adam Cooney downhill skier, fantastic when your teammates keep winning the ball, not so good when they turn it over.

He has a bit of David Rhys Jones about him, in that he seems to lope rather than sprint which leads to accusations of laziness, yet is not slow. He does run very upright though.

Perception is wonderful

Statistically had more tackles than any Collingwood player in 2004, only less than O'Bree in 2005, more than all in 2006 and behind 4 last year.

I would never had guessed Leon Davis was your number 1 tackler last year.

Last Friday aside, tackling hasn’t been a strong point at Collingwood since we made 2 grand finals and then shed some bigger bodied players. In 2004 and 2005 Collingwood played a lot of kids due to injuries and list turnover and few players had much continuity. The results suffered accordingly. It isn’t a great comparison point.

Dal Santo himself said that the feedback he got from team mates (I think in the Leading Teams sessions or whoever did St. Kilda’s) was about tackling and defensive aspects.

Agree on the basketball point and that’s why so many compare Pendlebury to him. I don’t think he’s lazy.
