St Kilda's AFL pre-season has taken a battering after a photo of naked captain Nick Riewoldt surfaced on the internet.

The picture was taken by teammate Sam Gilbert in a hotel room during a holiday in Miami a year ago.

Despite being asked by his skipper to immediately delete the photo, Gilbert later downloaded it to his computer from where, the club said, it was taken without his consent.

Partially-clothed teammate Zac Dawson appeared in the photo with Riewoldt, while another of star Saints midfielder Nick Dal Santo was also posted on Facebook.

Not sure that medical evidence is required to make a fairly commonsense judgment call on which of the parties is unstable - I think it's quite obvious in this case

The forensic tests should be very simple. I would imagine embedded data in the digital images and/or expert examination of the photos would conclude very quickly when and where they were taken.

Given that, I find it almost impossible to believe that Riewoldt would step out and publicly lie about something that will be quite easy to prove.

Take some over-hyped men, their penises, a couple of drinks and then a couple more, peer group influence and pressure, the intervention of a footy groupie or two along with a camera, and you have a modern day recipe for disaster.

When are these silly people going to recognise contemporary technology and attitudes for what they are - dangerous! Not to mention the scheming women looking for stories to sell instead of making an honest salary or wage like the rest of us.

Speak for yourself, I have been naked around most of my mates at some point, either at footy or as part of some sort of drunken carry-on, IMO fairly normal.

I am not sure that the club has to much to be embarassed about, couple of blokes in the nude on a footy trip.....would have happened before and will happen again.

Dont know about you but one of the first things I do in the morning after I brush my teeth is take a picture of my penis.

IF she did infact take that photo inside a hotel room this year then that would be a much bigger story than what it currently is.
Imagine the captain of St Kilda a person the footy world for what ever reason is in love with, a person who is supposed to be in a committed relationship had been sleeping with a 17 year old girl.

Blaming Sam Gilbert seems like it could be the easiest way for Nick to save what ever reputation he has left.

They knew this was coming, he would of had to clear what he was going to say with the club, and the club would of done it's research as to where and when the photos were taken.

Nick Riewoldt's does not look like he just got out of bed and was reluctant in having the photo done. Did zac dawson just get out of bed as well? He didn't look very tired. Nick Dal Santo seems to have escaped all the pressure despite his photo being worse that Nick's.

The issue here swings on...was the photo taken in Melbourne or Miami.

If it was taken in Melbourne by this girl then major issue for Riewoldt.

If it was taken in Miami then the woman is obviously not quite right and needs help.

There does not need to be any more complete truth than that. The versions are too far apart.

Maybe so but does that necessarily mean that one is undeniably telling the whole truth moreso than the other? I don't think you can actually assume that even if it is more likely. That's the point I'm making. Not that Nick is necessarily lying but more that it would be sticking your head in the sand to discount everything the girl says out of hand.
