Broderick was a dam fine footballer - one of the best I've seen in my lifetime and overall, was a footballer's footballer...not an athlete.

Would he survive today...of course he would for the simple fact he could find the ball and didh it off to the team's advantage.

Quickness is not a factor.

Anyone think Scott West is overly quick? He ain't he he is still elite and wins the ball 30 times a game!

Big deal benny.

Whilst Connor's has shown a little promise, he has played 4 games of AFL football. 4 games.

Remember Justin Plapp, Ben Hollands, Marty McGrath???
All looked like world beaters early.

Connors has a tonne of work ahead of him before he deserves some of the plaudits he's getting on here.
If he proves over a period of time that he's deserving of praise then blow his trumpet but FFS stop pulling his chain already.

The point is he has done something, not "sweet **** all" like you claim.

That does not mean he is certain to be a star by any stretch, but Casserly, Collins, Raince, Putt and JON have done "sweet **** all", whereas Connors has done something good and the question is "will he continue" and not "will he actually show something".

would u recommned him for a dream team buy next year?

as a rookie priced player sitting on my bench?

This bloke is my favourite current RFC. IS A CHAMPION. Will go down as the best pik 58 ever!!!!!!!!!!

There is physical quickness and mental quickness, Brodders wasn't slow, quick hands and evasive, he didn't run sub 3 seconds, had the skill so he didn't need to. If connors can be Half the player brodders was in and under than I'll be happy.

Connors seems to be getting pumped up alot, maybe too much.... can he ever live up to some of our expectations?????

we have a lot of young players, lets let them develope with out too much expectation and pressure.

just pointing out that they are completely different players. would he fit the side today? maybe, a fit cogs would and he isnt blessed with extraordinary pace. so perhaps i will retract that statement. i just dont understand the comparison of brodders and conners.

Connors also won the VFL mark of the year which is something too I guess :D

I think if Connors does actually get into Rising Star Nominee status, close to winning etc, he won't win it because he would of already been reported Lol, he has a temper. The quick elbow to the head in the VFL would show that

well said!

sssssssssss

A bloke in my office was raving about Connors when we got him this year.
He does look good IMO and could be the real deal:thumbsu:

Lets hope he develops quickly so WE have an awesome midfield
Oh Yes Dave , Conners is a gun , Whack him in the centre I say. He'll be top five in the Nab rising star next year. Still pumped about Rance the Pants Man. His under 18's carnival form was excellent. Tigers are rolling along nice mate. See ya Monday as for Magic 17 don't be so negative pal. Conners is a ball magnet.

Not being negative at all. Daniel certainly shows some potential.

I just can't stand the lauding of our players when they have a heap yet to prove.
Comparisons with players like Voss etc. are pipedreams despite the visual similarities.

The AFL is littered with wrecked careers of players who had natural ability but never made the most of their talents.

Connors needs to apply himself like Foley and then and only then will he become a very good footballer.

Hard work is what Connors needs to succeed.
If he does that then we may well have a gun on our hands.

Why is it that you continually laud some of our players before they have proven themselves consistently adept at anything????

It's embarrassing.

In saying that good luck to him. I hope he becomes a champ.
Very true, :thumbsu: I concur, ;)

The difference is that Connors has shown more at VFL level that almost any other prospect we've had other than Foley. He has certainly shown more at that level than Tambling, Meyer etc.

Suggesting Connors is a good prospect who can make the grade isn't the blind optimism that is with someone like Meyer who meets your criteria of a bloke being pumped-up for doing Jack. Or Hughes who should have been in the Coburg reserves all season.

Connors deserves to have a little buzz about him - based on what he was doing on the footy field for Coburg.

Absolutely and that is the huge question mark. At least in Connors we have a bloke we know has the ability - it is about attitude now.

That is a little bit of a change from most of our midfield 'prospects' who make up for a lack of pure talent with some huff and puff.

I agree all the Judd, Voss talk is nonsense, but I'd be dissapointed if Connors didn't get close to someone like Nick Stevens as a running, linkman who uses disposal to hurt teams. He will always be a bit selfish and maybe always break team rules - but you can always carry one of those.

what the hell happened to Marty McGrath?
anyone know the story?

He had 1/100th of the talent that people imagine he had. He was an over-hyped cult figure who played 1 good game rather by accident. When he made a mistake off-field no one in the league thought he was good enough for a second chance.

I got told he also liked the odd drink and was a train wreck off field. Too much maintenance for too little gain.

His year will largely depend on how his "hotspot" heals IMO. If he dosent have a big pre season he wont have the fitness to play midfield. Hopefully his foot is ok.
