A proven SC performer but will he come good as the dogs come good ? at a nice price of 382,600 is he ripe for the picking in the next few weeks or should we stay away from Gia this year ?

I wouldn't say he's a proven SC performer? More suited to DT i think.

I'd rather take a risk on someone on the way up than on Gia but that's just me. Ideally you could find another 100k and there's a bunch of players you could get.

His numbers in SC and DT are actually pretty close over the years, maybe you don't know how it works.

Look I was thinking of bringing him in but I'll hold off even longer he has been very poor over the past 3 - 4 weeks and if he puts in another bad one I can almost guarantee he will be dropped. You take out that 162 game at the start of the year and he is only averaging just over 60 a game I think that is something you have to take into account.

He has a break even of 104.88, I don't think he'll get it so you'd be better off waiting another week or choosing another option IMO.

No, I don't know how it works, please enlighten me :p

For me, a good value player in SC tends to score 10-20% more than their DT score. Not saying that all players that score similar in SC and DT are not good (Bartel as an example), but you get better value from players that need less possies to get a good SC score.

And you can do soooo much better than Gia in SC.

Gia's DT and SC Average scores over the past few years.

2009 79 81
2008 93 93
2007 78 82
2006 85 84
2005 94 86

The numbers just don't support your argument. But I do agree there are much better options there.

I'm well aware of what his numbers are, and as has been previously stated, he is far more suited to DT than SC.

Let me use Neon Leon's numbers as an example:

Year DT SC
2009 109 137
2008 84 95
2007 65 75
2006 63 68
2005 58 71

Leon Davis is suited to SC more than DT whilst Gia isn't.

I don't think anyone doubts that there are better forwards out there mate, but Gia isn't a "hack" as you put it, rather a polished and solid performer.

People are asking the question about him because he has had a slump in form - much like the rest of the dogs side - and as such he could be a good pick-up.

Exactly .. the question was posed because of his form slump .. and at the price he is looking like dropping to over the next few weeks I was wondering whether there really is a better option ?

No idea what to do with this guy.

Looks disinterested, not working hard enough and absolutely butchering the ball.

Got bigger problems at the moment - he is really starting to become a thorn in the side though.

boys you have no idea, he is a premium and has shown that over the past few years.
your a joke saying that his a DT player more the SC but if his still scoring well in SC for 375k at the moment you would be happy.
im picking him up this week you watch him blitz them this week

Good luck with that.

Those numbers posted above are woefully average, especially for a mid-season pickup.

This guy is killing me. Had him from the start and locked him in as a 'keeper'. After his Round 1 score I thought I'd found a beauty only for him to have proven to be woefully inadequate. I currently have 13 trades and am looking forward to splurging the cash Ablett's trade OUT freed up with the intent of getting him back so I really can't afford to trade out 'keepers'. He better lift his game. The stats provided above show he can be a quality performer and I hope that proves again this year.
