Theres been some quiet rumblings on Bigfooty about this bloke. While it might or might not necceserily be true, i thought it would be interesting if we discussed the possibility. I see us a real threat, if he wanted to leave Perth in my opinion. I dont think Carlton could fit Kerr in the salary cap, not with Judd and Fevola on top dollar. Collingwood i think would be more interested in Jonathan Brown, provided he stalled long enough, i dont think Collingwood would then backtrack for Kerr. Theres also been some rumblings they'll grab Cousins. No way could they fit all three in the cap.

In my opinion, we'd need to offer some good stuff to West Coast. I think Coughlan is our only real good WA boy, so he'd probably be in the firing line. We'd also need to give them a first round pick i think as well. I would feel comfortable as long as he didnt demand a huge salary.

Thoughts?

Would you be happy for us to chase him?

(To the Weagles supporters that will most likely come on the board and tell us it wont happen. Ill repeat that its just a silly rumour.)

Wouldn't want to give up what I'd have to to get him. Coughlan realistically has 0 trade value as at current we're not even sure if he'll play again. That means your looking at giving WCE min 1st and 2nd round picks in a draft which is fairly talented. To be honest whilst he is a fantastic player we'd be better served in the long term by just drafting our own.

The pre-season draft on the otherhand would be good to get him through that though I doubt he would do that to WCE.

Why would we want another midfielder? I think we've got that balanced now. What we need is CHF/CHB so that's where the focus should be. The last thing we need is another Neanderthal with a shady past at tigerland. Focus should be on a Jonathon Brown type to help. Richo won't be able to sustain a wing position for long. He's 33 after all and will have to return to the forward line. Brown would add firepower up forward giving the old fella some breathing space.

We have enough strong running players - KPP has to be the goal.

However, it is just a silly rumour.

FORGET TRADING DRAFT PICKS FOR PLAYERS!!!!!!!

The next draft is going to be the best for some years. Another Superdraft.

We have been slaughtered in the past by passing up high draft choices for ready made players.

It is a simple philosophy. Pick the best youngsters in the land every year, develop them, drop those who after 4 years show no improvement to make room for new dratees, and eventually you will have a fantastic competitive team; a team that plays finals consistently and gives them a shot at making the GF and thus a chance of winning it.

NO MORE SHORT CUTS PLEASE TIGES!!!!!!

Getting in the type of player at the age Kerr is would be acceptable IMO, but personally, he's not the sort of person I'd like around the club. I doubt we could outbid the other offers which would come for him either.

I'm not averse to getting in a 23-24yo mdfielder, but IMO we're better off to aim for someone less high profile with good character, and depending on where we finish, keep our first rounder this year.

I wouldn't touch Brown; too dodgy in the body, too expensive, not enough years left to justify missing out on a couple of good young players.

Let the others bid for the high profile players, we can profit from being around the fringes, helping them get the deal done and getting some good value by doing so.

If theres one thing our club seems to be good at it is addressing the attitude of certain players.

Simmonds and Polak, both critiscised for their behaviour before they landed at Tigerland, we havent heard a peep out of either of them.

Richo and his dummy spits, they are now non-existant.

I think if anything, we could set Daniel Kerr straight.

I think we would have to give up too much to get him...He may be worth it, but our teams better players still have their best football ahead of them.
Why get rid of those players for someone who is in their peak now? Its not like our premiership window is open right now.
Keep the kids we got now, get some more new talented kids next year, let em gel for a few years and reap what you sow.

He's a great player who has been hobbled for just about his whole career by injuries. Honestly, I wouldn't want to trade away any draft pick or any younger, promising player for him. Not with the number of midfield-type players we have running around Richmond and Coburg at the moment. Even if the Bigfooty rumours were true (which is actually the case probably 10 to 15 percent of the time ;)), we're better off scoring a young player who will develop to fill gaps than pick up a brilliant, yet sadly physically debilitated older player.

Do not want the club trading for anyone if it required us giving away our first 2 picks. We need to keep bringing in the kids to add to the list and if an opportunity presented itself to pick up a top shelf talent then we try to trade away players who do have some currency but wont necessarily be missed.

That'd be right, and knowing our luck we'll probably finish bloody ninth again and draft some more pip squeaks.

Werent we thesame ppl who when all the hoohaa came out about cousins were against us getting him because of his influence over younger players,
d kerr caries some excess baggage as well, but that may have been assisted by cousins..........

no i dont think we shud trade for either, if we do we are going back over our old mistakes of recycling players......ffs cousins will be 30 or sumthing.....are we that close to a flag that these two will get us over theline?????

cousins will never play again he has some serious issues, as for kerr another small on baller?

how about we chase a dean cox or someone like that.

As jack dyer used to say......the big blokes dont get any shorter as the game goes on, but the small blokes get slower.

Recycling players is referring to dog shit blokes like Ben Marsh, Justin Blumfield and all those spuds.

Daniel Kerr is in the top 3 or 4 midfielders, dare i say it, players in the league at the moment. Hes only 24 or 25, hes a premiership player, an inside midfielder, and he has some VERY good kicking boots on him. I reckon he'd give us the class in the midfield to do some damage.

Im confident we could sort out any issues he had or still has, however im of the opinion that Kerr is pretty cleaned up now. He would be a very healthy addition to a midfield with Johnson, Deledio and Foley. :thumbsu:

Time for a bump i reckon.

The rumours are gaining some momentum now, it looks like Daniel has screwed the pooch again.

He could be up for grabs if the Weagles are serious about cleaning up the issues at their club.

Im confident still, that we could sort out Daniel Kerr, Wallace has cleaned up a few blokes in the last few years. :thumbsu:

Should Kerr consider moving on, he has a strong childhood bond with Cogs... they played their junior football together and are in touch with each other regularly.

Tigerland might be an option for him.
