The big watch from here would surely be swelling or soft tissue because those movements look relatively dynamic for a guy that had ACL surgery 6 months ago.Through trial and error over the years I guess the medicos now have a clear pathway footballers must travel before being ticked off to return.
Seemingly McStay hasn't reached his endpoint as yet but when you look at that video he clearly isn't shy now about putting stresses on his repaired knee.
Fingers crossed his recovery stays on track.
Should I have posted it elsewhere? Or could the thread title be amended?Bumping a Dan McStay injured his knee thread...
He's back this seasonIt's next year I think with a slim chance of a return beforehand.
Bro, that's so unlucky. I played so many games of football and only did the odd hamstring, however, my ankles today are permanently swelled up and always feel like they need stretching and are just plain uncomfortable
They sure are. Football pretty much saved my life. I got so much support and it even motivated me to go back to Uni and get an actual education. great memories. It's actually 40 years ago this year, when I last played in Premiership. Geez I'm getting oldhad a lot of fun playing footy with lifelong mates. the memories are worth the cost (mostly)
Rest of the team is working hard to make our season go deep into September, hopefully with the big fella up forward.Working hard and giving himself every chance of getting back this season.
Nah. I quite like it when what could be bad news turns out to be good news.Should I have posted it elsewhere? Or could the thread title be amended?
Geez, same for me, 40 years this year. We weren't team-mates were we?They sure are. Football pretty much saved my life. That's you. What about those of us who immediately on seeing the thread title, turn on a hot bath, demolish the sleeping pills in the cabinet and check the supply of razor blades, not necessarily in that order?!Nah. I quite like it when what could be bad news turns out to be good news.
What club did you play forGeez, same for me, 40 years this year. We weren't team-mates were we?
I was going to say we still have Freddy but then you'd have to add whisky and morphineThat's you. What about those of us who immediately on seeing the thread title, turn on a hot bath, demolish the sleeping pills in the cabinet and check the supply of razor blades, not necessarily in that order?!
I was in Sydney, NSWAFL, so unlikely. What club did you play for
Nobody knows whether mcstay plays in 2024
He doesn’t know and probably the specialists don’t know or the club
Depends on how the knee settles and responds to training loads over next 2-3 months
Of course we hope he plays but the issues are the known unknowns and unknown unknownsThe plan is unquestionably for him to play. There’s a bit of expectation management in there, but it’s been pretty clear from the get-go that he’s aiming to be back at the business end of the season.
The rest of the what-ifs also apply to him slipping on the soap in the shower, or unexpected meteor strikes.
I thought that was Freddy not McStay. The plan is unquestionably for him to play. There’s a bit of expectation management in there, but it’s been pretty clear from the get-go that he’s aiming to be back at the business end of the season.

You just like arguing I thinkOf course we hope he plays but the issues are the known unknowns and unknown unknowns
That’s like saying we don’t know if Mitchell or De Goey will play again in 2024 because maybe their recovery doesn’t go well. If McStay recovers within the expected, established timeframe, he’ll be back at the pointy end of the season.
Not if he loses his hunger for the game in the meantime ..which is plausible as winter descends and the temperature drops across this fine city we call 'da home of football'That’s like saying we don’t know if Mitchell or De Goey will play again in 2024 because maybe their recovery doesn’t go well. If McStay recovers within the expected, established timeframe, he’ll be back at the pointy end of the season.
Definitely not !!You just like arguing I think
No because there are more variables and known unknowns with acl knee recoveries than groin strains and plantar fasciitisThat’s like saying we don’t know if Mitchell or De Goey will play again in 2024 because maybe their recovery doesn’t go well. If McStay recovers within the expected, established timeframe, he’ll be back at the pointy end of the season.
I'm confused, so there's no meteor strike now?
