In my view Hawthorn are lacking a little in the pace department through the midfield.

I notice that Danyle did not exactly set the world on fire this year after coming off an impressive 2007.

I would love him at the Hawks and was wondering

a) If he was out of contract &

b) What would Port want for him?

Untradeable, and my bet is Port fans would agree. But IF they would trade him, a top10 pick is needed, plus a player
Bit over the top.

Would be 1st Rounder or 2nd Rounder plus Player

2006 was 2 years ago buddy, get with the times

So what, one bad season doesn't mean he is a dud. Port would want a top10 pick, he is worth that, and then they would want a "sweetener" on top of that. Pearce is a gun and is awesome in a good side. He is only in his early 20's as well. Port will not trade him so it is not even worth discussing!

Would agree with that opinion. Agree that not going to be an early first rounder but maybe mid to late. Doubtful will happen though.

What about Melb's priority pick at 17 and a player ie Valenti for our 2nd round pick at 20 and Pearce? Many will think that is too much which it may be but you don't get nothing for nothing...

I don't think we've ever traded anyone who wasn't either
  • going to be delisted anyway,
  • showing up drunk at the club or in the papers, or
  • wanted to leave
Danyle doesn't fit any of those categories so I doubt he'll be going anywhere. If he was I think we'd be looking to get a player in return

I can't imagine him leaving Port, chatted to him a 36er's game last season, and he is very happy and settled at Port. Personally, I reckon he'll regain some more than solid form next season.

Danyle Pearce is not getting traded. And if anything, a Rising Star winner, top 15 Brownlow in the past 2 year period, regardless of inconsistency is a sign of quality which in return deserves quality.

He will only get better and will be a match winner for years to come.

The funny thing about these forums is that because of biased opinion some ludacris suggestions get tossed around.

What you need to consider in these discussions is fact first then projected potential.

Danyle Pearce is a good investment either way, not going to break the bank but will take some sacrifice, in my opinion.

haha, where do i sign?

Danyle is slight and outside. He flourished in 06 & 07 because he has a lot of class and pace. However, he's copped a lot more attention and has had difficulty adjusting. Should be much better off in 2009 one would hope. I would be very concerned if Port were happy to trade him at value to my club as that would indicate those who know him best don't think will ever adjust.

I would give up the Hawks first rounder for him (pick 15) in a heartbeat.

I don't think Port would or should take it.

You have to be kidding. There will be plenty of talent in this draft at pick 15 and beyond. If you had your way, we would have traded pick 12 last year and missed out on Cyril Rioli.

First round draft picks rarely get traded and when they do, it's for the like of Chris Judd, not Danyle Pearce. Fortunately Chris Pelchen is managing our list, not you.

Well mate, hearsay and conjecture are kinds of evidence, but not enough to convince me. Now in a magical land, filled with fairies and lepricons and eskimos, pick 15 will land you a gun. Based on history (ie reality) anything inside the top 10 is a gamble and anything outside the top 10 is a gamble with poor odds. Pick 15 is unlikely to land you a player better than Danyle Pearce, which is why I said the Hawks should do the trade but Port Adelaide should not.

Unlike you, Chris Pelchen is capable of understanding the nature of the draft (that it is a gamble) and is able to rationally weigh up the value of a pick rather than living in la la land where pick 15 automatically lands you a gun player.

Let me ask you Pharoah, how many of the pick 15's from the last ten drafts would you take over Pearce? Less than half I'd wager. Chaplin might end up good... Brady Rawlings is a very good tagger... O'Keefe and Varcoe are unproven - so I guess that would make them guns in your book. Then a bunch of very average players and complete duds. Lets compare that to Pearce - a Rising Star winner who has also finished Top 15 in the Brownlow.

On top of that, whoever we get with pick 15 will need development and won't contribute (if at all) for several years.

And as for Chris Judd... He is not worth pick 15, he is worth picks 1 AND 2 (or 3,4 and 20 which is essentially what WC got for him).

2006 15 Daniel O'Keefe 2005 15 Travis Varcoe 2004 15 Lynden Dunn 2003 15 Troy Chaplin 2002 15 Nicholas Smith 2001 15 Barry Brooks 2000 15 Simon Wiggins 1999 15 David Spriggs 1998 15 Brady Rawlings 1997 15 Joel McKay

Valenti is rookie listed, pretty sure you can't trade guys off the rookie list?

Pssh, with that PP you would just take Sam Blease, who imo is Danyle Pearce v2.0.
I would do our 2nd rounder(19) and Mark Jamar/Daniel Bell.

Or Maybe Colin Sylvia + PP for Danyle Pearce + your 2nd rounder?
