Didn’t claim he doesn’t have what it takes or that he doesn’t have AFL qualities, actually the complete opposite.

If you look at this very page you'll see the guy that you're choosing to carry water for doing it.

If you think they were wrong, why come to their defence?

Yeah I’m not getting involved in any vendettas you got against other posters. Just having my say about a player, like all of us.

You weren't just having a say about the player though, were you? You came in smugly talking about revisionist opinions not invalidating past criticism.

Which of course is a nonsense. If a person has argued that a player has no AFL traits, or lacks the athleticism to succeed at a level, subsequent success demonstrates they were wrong. Conclusively.

"Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the 24-year-old said his growth in the mindset had been a “real positive” as he continued to develop.

“It (my mindset) has definitely changed over the last few years, I’ve been able to stay a lot more level-headed,” Fogarty said.

“I don’t dwell on stuff that has happened in the past anymore, which is a real positive to where I’m at.

“Overall though not much has really changed in the way I prepare and go about it on the field, I’m just trying to get to as many contests as I can and work up the ground, now I’m just getting a bit luckier in front of goals.”

The absence of former captain Taylor Walker for periods throughout the season has seen Fogarty take greater ownership of the Crows’ forward line, an opportunity he said he had relished.

“It’s been a good challenge (playing without Tex for periods of the season), I’ve been able to play with a few more of our younger guys that have had to step up to replace Tex and Filthy,” Fogarty said."

Yeah, it's not just Vader we mock.

Ha ha ha... "We". Your desperation to be included is admirable as well as very depressing.

You both engage in the dull hate riding, you both decided the guy didn't have the traits necessary, you were both well off, and you both refuse to own it by seamlessly trying to pretend that you didn't do that and you were actually on with someone else.

Here you are having a melt about excuses when you declared that there were no different variables, when they were obvious.

No hate riding. Its clear you have a love of FOG. You are the number one poster in this thread and always disappear when he plays poorly, only to magically bump it when he does well. Good on you. You are his #1 fan.

Haven't really had any melts. Just genuinely dont understand how all of the things that stop FOG from being good have been constant over the past 3 years.

'Since 2022'.

Yeah - pretty much. I think I had 8 posts in this thread prior to 2022 and the majority didnt even tough on FOG.

This article has me concerned.

Didnt the same exact puff piece come out last year after he kicked 13 goals in his first 4 games of 2023 and everyone was lauding him for his accuracy and how he had arrived. If memory serves - he gave credit to Rosie for fixing his mental issues.

He then went on to kick 26 goals and 24 points from his next 25 games in a row.

Sure his last 8 games have been very good. But what about the 25 games prior to that?

Apologies. Will put my hand up. Said in 2022 I didnt think he had the athleticism to be a successful AFL player.

We now know it was his mental demons stopping him from performing and making him look like he didn't have the athleticism.

The bit I'd be concerned about, if I were you, is that Fogarty could work out that Tex had been missing and you for some reason couldnt.

In fairness to him, I don't think it's a vendetta against other posters.

Just think he a massive massive FOG fan. Would have to guess he is a family friend, went to school with him or met him at a bar one night. Guy has almost 700 posts in this thread - almost triple the next biggest participant.

Now get to the bit where you ridiculed confidence being a factor at that time, and put your hand up for that.

"Mental demons". Ham it up much.

You keep coming back to the post count.

Here's the thing though, I've been in the thread since 2018. On your own claim from earlier you didn't participate before 2022.

613 / 7 = 87.

228 / 3 = 76.

You're closing in on me. If I had to bet, I'd say the bulk of mine were earlier too. Back in the SANFL playing days when I was at my most annoyed at the situation.

Yeah mental demons is a funny way of saying "being poorly used by the coaches".

2019 being played as a defender in the SANFL most of the season before finally getting a go as a forward in round 20 of the AFL season where he kicked 9 goals in 4 games.

Then they made him come out in the 2020 pre-season and tow the company line about how it was actually a good thing for his development.

Games with Tex in 2024 - FOG kicks 21 goals from 12 games (1.75 goals a game).Averages 12 disposals a game. Averages 4.91 marks per game.

Games without Tex in 2024 - FOG Kicks 5 goals from 3 games (1.6 goals a game). Averages 10 disposals a game. Averages 4.8 marks.

But yeah - its not the mental demons he publicly talks about. Nor the need to spend a lot of time with Rosie the club Psych to get his head right for AFL footy. Its that Damn Tex keeping him down.

Hang on a minute. I started posting in this thread in 2019 (as we discussed previously). I was negative on FOG beginning 2022.

For such a big brain - I am surprised you would overlook the finer details.

You're getting rattled. Read your own words.

For Darcy to put together two months of great footy as a key forward at a time when the team is overall struggling is a pretty good sign for him. He's had his ups and downs but I am pleased he's focused on the positives.

This might be too depressing to think about, but imagine what he'd be doing if he played for Collingwood, Carlton or Sydney? He'd be getting two extra goals a game from free kicks alone.

How do you get this data? Seeing someone monopolising discussion etc. I didn’t realise this was available and keen to see who is dominating postings

Many thanks. Clearly a novice mistake. Certainly some very invested posters here.

Fair cal. For one poster to keep bumping “his boys thread” whenever Fog lives up to expectations is a little sad.

We all want Fog to be the greatest he can be. Kick 50-60 per year and fully - finally - takeover from Tex. He is still a long way off this level and sadly I don’t think he ever gets there. Tex is his 5th year (Fog now 7th) was ripping games apart and BOG in finals. Fogs ceiling seems much lower now than what I had hoped and expected. A 50 ish type return per year is still pretty good but not elite game changer level
Walker would have been one of the best KPF for many years instead of in his twilight years had he not done an ACL so it's incomparable you are comparing anyone to Walker's early years.
