Happy with this news and a two year deal is a sensible play for both parties.

If Darcy feels he’s worth more (for his next deal) he has 2 years to show his body and mind are up to it.

If he can get his hammy’s right in the off season it will be like having a new recruit at CHB next year!

Losing Darcy IMO would have been a disaster. I can't see us picking up anyone who comes near the potential that Darce has shown and frankly, if he gets his body right he could end up rewriting some serious records. Of course that is all speculation at this stage but I have always held high hopes for what he can achieve. Unlike some here, I am under no illusions that Darcy was a certainty to stay with the Pies. With his father a close confidant it's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have given other offers serious consideration. My relief is palpable!

It's savvy to keep your cards close to your chest. One doesn't go into a contractual negotiation with a club with an official position of:

"Look, I'm just happy to play for the jumper and be around my mates!". (Goldy excluded)

It's why he never said he wants to leave because that would have also offered other clubs a bargaining chip.
