you're clueless, this attitude is one of the reasons why AFL is so far behind in sports

the 'trainer' can be the difference between finishing 12th or finishing in the top 8
Yeah he is a bit more then just a mere trainer, responsible for conditioning there bodies so they can run out games, strength and a whole lot more. One of the most important positions at the club.

How do you think North would have gone with Essendon's injury list?

Steve Saunders didn't fluke those results. Clubs have been trying to buy him out for years.

i think the weapon may have done alright, the players absolutely flew into the 2012 season but then crashed, if they adjusted to it as quickly as this season they wouldve been unstoppable

very hard to tell though and 1 season is a long time so they had to demote him

Sorry, but what sport exactly is AFL behind in this country - in anything. the AFL is miles and miles above the rest in Australian Sport, your kidding yourself of you don't see that.

... And if you are comparing the AFL to the EPL, NBA, NFL, La Liga & MLB - get ****ing real ya dork. Even average players in the NBA get $25mil over 3 seasons - of course they can afford $400k or more for conditioning coaches. The AFL is a national game with national inteterst. Those other sports have wide global interest.

I am not disagreeing with the value of a good trainer and the price they may demand - but to say it's "this attitude why AFL is so far behind other sports " is ridiculous. This doesn't even come in the top 30 reason's why they are, apparently, so behind:rolleyes:

How much does everybody think assistant coaches are getting a year, I would suspect most would be on between $200k-$300k.

Pointless paying players $10 million a year & you cant get the best out of them or get them on the park, we probably offered him $100k more that most in the AFL doing his job are getting, If he is that good- money well spent i say

You couldn't figure it out from my post? He's the head fitness guy at North. They had 3 soft tissue injuries all year.

Compared to Essendon who had 30 or so. Hence, the difference between making finals and finishing 12th.
They had a pretty heavy toll the year before. Also North's players don't seem to be that well developed, common whinge over on the norf board.

Also begs the question though, how the **** are Port in a position to be offering that sort of money to a trainer?
I suppose because the AFL wants to equalize football spending now. We had to cop it in our time, when we were broke and trying to operate with one full-time recruiter. But it's become clear that sets clubs back a long way.

It is a joke, though. I still can't get over how Port can give Mark Williams a new 2-year contract, sack him 15 games later, and put their hands out to the AFL (i.e. other clubs) to pay out his contract. (Edit: And then sack the guy they replaced him with.)
