Yeah I saw that mentioned on EBW wasn't sure if it was serious or not.

The fitness requirements at AFL are a little different to soccer, but Burgess has worked a treat at Port so could be a winner.

Burgess was at Port before he went over to Liverpool for a couple of years. So when he came back he knew AFL inside out and also had a couple of years of thinking about what of the new stuff he was learning was transferable.

Port have done pretty well to get a pretty uniquely qualified guy. Anyone else is probably going to be missing the overseas / other sport experience, or if they have it will be missing the AFL experience.

We aren't getting Carlton's ex chief anyway, those rumours were way off the mark.

@SamLandsberger: Justin Cordy back at the Dogs as high performance manager. Worked at the kennel 2004-5 and moved on from the Blues, who nabbed Buttifant.
