I think this is so diabolical/real that it needs its own separate thread (can't hurt, right).

What are your thoughts on a potential deal.

What would you give as a maximum.

This could make the trade thread messy with abuse, so lets keep it here.

Not everyone is against getting Dawes like yourself, so I don't see the point of starting a post with the sole intention of slagging him off.

Let's wait to see how things transpire.
 
We have got Viney plus 2 more top 5 picks. That basically means we have got 3 of the top 10 kids this year. I am more than happy to take a risk on Dawes with pick 13.

Most people are though, and this appears to be real.
 
Here's some of my pipe dreams.

I want to use both 3 & 4 on draft picks (FWIW, I would've been fine with Viney at 3, but 26 is better).

I don't want to enable the Pies. Dawes and Wellingham for 13 would be my maximum bid, and I wouldn't cry about being knocked back. If we only want Dawes, surely we have the upper hand in the bargaining.

Is Pedersen being courted by anyone else? He's a lower profile, similar type player, who just needs an opportunity (Norf have an abundance of big men).

I dunno...
 
I will be happy if it soesnt cost us pick 3/4 at this stage. I would think if we had a pick 26 (what a shame we dont) that would get it done, but we dont at this point in time

Pederson is much more value if we start talking 13 for Dawes alone

I'd think it would be more to facilitate a caddy trade and 13 would go to GC, particularly as they've traded their pick 2

If we trade pick 13 to gc, caddy to collingwood, Dawes and Pick 18 to us (we'd have to probably add in a player as well)

Round 2 selection absolute maximum. Melbourne don't have a lot of depth in the KPF section, so I think Dawes could play a role. However, he is not worth a round 1 selection. You guys should be rebuilding still, challenging for around four years time. With Viney at 26, you have a great opportunity to select three absolute guns in round 1. Those guys should be seen as the core you build around, to compliment guys like Trengrove, Howe, Grimes, and co when they peak in another three years.

Dawes will be 25 next year, and I am sure he will make you more competitive going into the forward line. However, not worth sacrificing getting three potential jets on top of Jack Viney.
 
Picks 3 and 4 have to be off the table surely, id be content to offer 13 to the pies in return for Dawes and their 2nd round pick, but definately not super excited about it
 
I can see one of those first round picks going though. The temptation of Neeld and co to save their own jobs by getting in a ready made player must be huge.

He came out and tolled the world what our deal is? was it worded like this exactly or are you making assumptions.

Did he say he would trade both picks if "the right" players were available?

And say separately he is interested in Dawes and Wellingham?

Dawes and Wellingham may not be the "right" players?

That would certainly be acceptable. Throw in Petterd or someone.
 
Now we have Viney in the second round, could we conceivably have manufactured a deal that looks like:
Melbourne: Out: P4, In: Dawes, P18 & P17
GC: Out: Caddy, In: P4
Collingwood: Out: Wellingham, Dawes & P18 In: Caddy
WCE: Out: P17, In: Wellingham

Trades like these never happen, but there has to be something afoot with GC not bidding on Viney… Surely.

Collingwood get the raw end of the stick, but I guess that’s how it goes when players publicly declare they want out. That said Caddy will be better than both Dawes and Wellingham.

Lol. As if Collingwood would agree to this. Caddy is not that good.
 
Pick 4 should be off the table.

Pick 13 for Dawes and Wellingham is about right.

If we were to give 4 and 13 away, that is the worst trade Ive heard in my time.

We should use 4 and 13 in the draft.
