Great news for Westcoast :thumbsu: Hopefully we can take Swift with Pick 18/20. We can afford to take the risk.
Those I still think Pies would take Swift over Beams:)

You might be right, but any attension linked to Collingwood sells papers. The old story, where there is smoke, there is fire.
Time will tell if he goes before 29.

Hardly anyone had him in their top 30 from the mocks i have seen.

Wont be long before his name is linked to Collingwood on SEN.
Bringing his name up in lights.

Dont get me wrong the forums are here to speculate on, but i hope it doesnt come back to bite you on the bum. Cheers:(

Yeah, I doubt the recruiters knew much about Beams until this thread was started.

Your right, no recruiters listen or look at anything that is new information to them. They all have the same info on all players. All teams spend the same amount on recruiting, all teams have the same information at their fingertips. You f..wits. Do you honestly think all recruiters have their wish list set in stone, none can be benifited by added info. Give me a break..

Will be wrapt if we get him with our 2nd rounder. Love the look of him. bit annoyed its so public though that we are into him.

Whispers around that Brisbane are keen on him at pick 25.

Beams played 3 games in the TAC Cup during the year when Queensland are invited in just before the carnival, these where his 3 game stats:

Vs Geelong Falcons
3 goals
18 kicks
13 handballs
13 handball receives
3 tackles
6 marks

Vs Gippsland
1 goal
15 kicks
20 handballs
17 handball receives
4 tackles
4 marks

Vs North Ballarat
3 goals
10 kicks
20 handballs
8 handball receives
4 tackles
5 marks

Still quality numbers, not many TAC Cup midfielders had 30 touches in 3 straight games.

Very interesting. I wondered why we may be rating him so highly. Tough to gauge a kid playing Div 2 in the champs. There is the possible answer. Given he was the only QLD kid, IIRC, invited to draft camp, he was probably closely checked in these games also.

Would Hine pull the trigger at 11 to get him ?

Otherwise cant see him getting past 25 to Brissie.

Would be a massive call to take him then, considering Trengove, Siddebottom, Blease and Swift maybe available there.

What does Snoopdog think of him ?

well trengove , and blease arnt really what the pies are after there hasnt been to many rumours to suggest there isnt any interest from the pies towards sidebottom.Seems to be out of beams and swift, i guess you have got to weigh up your options there 2 very similar players imo both major ball winners and use it well , major upside in favour for beams is that hes played alot of footy in the past 2 years and impressed while swift missed 2 years of footy but impressed at 16s level... tough one

yeh had a blinder against nt... good matchup with rolfe in the first half which rolfe kicked three goals but after half time was the dayne beams show... think i saw his name in one of the teams for the qafl grand final, not sure tho... will go high

Hardly a secret that Collingwood did the largest amount of persuading to have him nominate for the draft, pick 11 would be a gutsy call but they'll probably have to take him there if they really want him. Worst case its hard to see him getting past Brisbane at pick 25 - the 'stuff you' to the Gold Coast would be the icing on the cake for the Lions.

I see today that GC17 signed Rory Thompson because they thought Brisbane were going to take him late in the draft.

That is news to me and If that is the case then it be a Better then 50% chance we take Beams

Totally correct about Rory Thompson and screwing Brisbane. Already starting a rivalry up here:thumbsu: Rory Thompson is a gem though. WOuld have qualified next year i think.

Yeah those stats do tell a story of the TAC and NT game but the fact that he is consistantely in the top 10 odd players and picking up 25 odd disposals consisently in seniors is more impressive. From the sounds of things its either Swift or Beams

Also correct he was named in the Seniors Grandfinal. Played in the premership side. Great first quarter but got injured early.

Theres alot of talk of him going to the pies at 11, collingwood would have to be one of the more experienced and proffesional with there recruiting there for if they rate this young man so highly one would think he would be on alot of other teams radars for the first couple of rounds ,there are a few teams that need some quality mids, like sydney, north, essendon, lions freo list goes on....

Pick 11's a big punt though, there will be some exceptionally talented players still there at that point. Going to be one of the most interesting pieces of the draft puzzle this one.

I would be absolutely over the moon if we took both Sidebottom and Beams. That to me would be the perfect draft day for me.

I highly doubt either will be available at the respective picks...but they would be my 2 hopefuls at thsi stage.

How is it in that rarified atmosphere.

Great result:thumbsu:
