Was this before or after his bump/hit on Priddis?

Once again I will apologies on behalf of the club for having opposition players infringe the Eagles players thus giving away free kicks, I hope that goes a long way to healing your shattered feelings

:hearts:
God I tell ya. Getting sick to shit of these opposition teams giving away so many free kicks all the time. Really breaks the flow our games.

so lets see, since quarter time, carlton won 17 free kicks to eagles 9. doesnt really sound like a conspiracy really. surely for most of the game, we would have continued on to be ahead. perhaps demetriou phoned umpires at quarter time. nothing to do with the fact carlton actually woke up.

when the umpires get their game reviewed, it will be shown that it was generally umpired correctly. sure some free kicks could have gone either way but many rules are grey. that is something that cannot be fixed. people complain when a free kick is not given for a soft free and same then complain then when it is to opposition. watch netball if umpiring is a problem. personally i am amazed they can see anything. being closer to action IS NOT better than having 15 cameras around the ground, with multiple slow motioned replays!

however, back to conspiracy, no need for us to start any mind games. with the way opposition coaches carry on, its clear we are already inside their staff and players' heads about this. that only benefits us. or is that our fault, just like if you pick the ball up, it can only be done with straight knees and its up to you mr player to be tackled properly. its your own fault that the tackler assumes you will straighten.

Cox is terrific but I too am sick of the great ride he gets from the umps. Opposing ruckmen get called for all sorts of ticky touch frees against him while I see Cox allowed to put both arms around opponents and literally throw them out of the way at ball ups and get away with it. Not Dean's fault. If he can get away with it good on him but is pathetic umpiring.

If that is true then the "average" to which you refer is pretty darned high !

Clearly tongue in cheek. There was also that thread a month or so ago questioning how good Cox really was because you cant establish how effective his hitouts are, and that he doesnt kick enough goals. In the month since, NN missed a game and Cox dominated the ruckwork and in other games has kicked multiple goals. He must have read BF. Joke of a thread.

I have no problem with Cox receiving the amount of free kicks in the forward 50 that he does. It just seems that there is a different set of rules depending on who you are inside the forward 50.

Cox has become a whiner in front of the umpires recently.
He's really got to get that out of the game.

If they weren't there they wouldn't be paid, whining or not. In fact, the general consensus would be that continually whining to umps for frees that aren't there will lead them to put the whistle away rather than the opposite.
Cox is just a wily and very strong ruckman with superior positioning skills. He's almost never forced behind his opposite number in contests.

Is this what bigfooty has become? The main board clogged with conspiracy theories and whinge-fests. He does get some frees for ruck infrigements that look dubious at best, but is he the only one? Hardly. A champion player who takes the ball at the highest point, hence he milks frees.

Good comment. There are players from all sides getting dubious free kicks, every match of every week, of every year, in the AFL and probably at every level of football. They are awarded by umpires who aren't perfect and aren't always in the best position to see what happened. Why some are obsessed with having a go at certain Eagles players for the free kicks they get (and I repeat from an umpire, not self awarded) beats me. Too many armchair experts/critics with very little constructive to say.

Yes, but my concern is not whether the free kicks are there or not, Cox shouldn't be acting the way he is.
Goodes does this as well, both players should know better.

It would be rather unethical for an umpire not to give a free because a player continually whines. You have said it yourself, a free kick should be paid regardless. So, if Stevie Milne deserves a free then Milne should get a free. It is not up to the umpires to sort this type of reprehensible behaviour out. Any umpire that shows such bias because of how a player has acted should be severely penalised. It shouldn't be the concern of the match review panel nor the coaching staff. Players should know better.

I'm not saying the umpires should stop paying free kicks that are there, I'm saying players should stop exaggerating in a manner unfit for professionals.

Personally, you appear to be a little over-concerned how other team's supporters perceive us. If Cox' "acting" for frees was impeding us somehow I'd have a problem. It doesn't seem to be so I don't. As to how it looks I couldn't give a toss. Leave that for the strugglers claiming moral victories because they have nothing else to hang their hat on.

Actually, I couldn't care less how we are perceived by others.
And it's not about how it looks, it's about how it is.
You are unconcerned because it is not impeding West Coast, I am concerned because it is impeding the professionalism of the game.
Sometimes it is bigger than what is the right thing for our club.

Please name a professional sport anywhere in the world in which appealing to officials doesn't occur - given the stakes involved it's really the rule. I also think it's poor form to say that Cox exaggerates - he merely draws attention to infringements being made against him. I'm perplexed at why you consider this unprofessional conduct. The unprofessional conduct is really the infringement itself!

I complained about the soft free kicks Cox gets after the West Coast v St Kilda game and got howled down by West Coast supporters.

He is a great ruckman/forward and a lot of his free kicks are probably justified but he also seems to get a lot of soft frees that other players don't get and also tries to milk them more than most other players.
