For Essendon:
James Davies

Rookie, so can't really delist. Out the door, though.

One more year. Will hopefully get a go, with Wellman retiring, Fletch aging and Henneman traded.

Sean Wellman(retire)
Matthew Allan(retire)
Joe Misiti(retire)
Mark Mercuri(retire)

Yep. Allan will get one more year, but probably shouldn't. I'd rather see Laycock or Cartledge getting the experience.

Aaron Henneman (but he's sheedy's pet)
Tradebait. Won't be delisted.

Marc Bullen (trade bait)
Not unless we get somebody very good. The boy can play.

Darren Walsh
Had glandular fever. One more season.

Courtney Johns(no room)
Yep. The Messiah must go.

Justin Murphy(from stats he's only good for one year at a club)
Bull. From stats he's had one bad second year. That should read 'from the unfounded assertion of idiots, he's only good for one year'.

If Macca can go on the vets list my argument is void. Just saying that retaining Macca would limit the no. of rookies we can elevate.

A lot of players are contracted to the dockers next year. Making the maximum of 35 players predraft very hard to achieve. Especially since exchanging picks for players adds to the total. Throw in the rookie elevations plus the possibilites of a no. of players returning to WA, makes the 35 max difficult to achieve. Hence delistings will be ripe.

I think that 2 or 3 players will be traded or delisted unexpectedly.
McManus is not eligible for the Vets list until 2006. Parker is on the list, but outside of the 38 (ie only 5 rookies allowed - a veteran can be inside or outside the 38, it's the club's choice). Dodd has to be elevated or delisted as he's been on the list for 2 years (and will/has been elevated). Smith (he was elevated to replace Campbell or Dunn on the injury list) can be retained on the rookie list if CC is happy to not have him automatically available next year - ie need to have another injury to be able to play him.
Clive, Doswell and Crowley have already been delisted from the main list, and Colreavy is gone from the rookie list.
By my count, that leaves us with 36 on the main list, 1 vet (Parker) and 3 rookies (Duffield, Warren and Smith).
I think CC would like to have more spaces on the rookie list, he needs 1 more space on the main list and will probably want to elevate Smith now rather than wait for another injury, so I agree that 1 or 2 more players will be delisted or traded for picks. They might delist someone like Edgecumbe and redraft him with a late pick if they think he's still ahead of most 18 year olds. Haines is the other one likely to be delisted. TLo is the other name always brought up, but I think he's worth keeping as a backup.
