Carlton
Carlton has announced that seven players; four primary list and three rookie list players, have been advised they will not be offered playing contracts in 2010.

Jordan Bannister, Adam Bentick Jake Edwards and Adam Hartlett will not be at Carlton in 2010 along with Rookie List players Lachlan Hill, Darren Pfeiffer and Luke Stanton.

General Manager Football Operations Steven Icke said this was always a difficult time of the year when tough decisions had to be made to ensure the continued development of the list.

"We thank the players for the contributions they have made to the Carlton Football Club, both on and off the field, and we wish them well for the future."

Jordan Bannister will be 27 on October 31st and he joined Carlton as a 3rd round selection in the 2003 National Draft, having previously been recruited to Essendon from Therry-Penola via Calder Under 18s with a 3rd round selection in the 2000 National Draft. Jordan played 53 games for Carlton, including two in 2009, having previously played 14 games for Essendon between 2001 and 2003 for a total of 67 AFL matches. Jordan was a member of Carlton's 2005 pre-season premiership team.

Adam Bentick is 24 and was recruited from St Bernard's via Calder Under 18s as a 3rd round selection in the 2004 Rookie Draft. He played 68 games for Carlton after being elevated to the senior list in 2004. Injuries restricted him in 2009 and he did not play a senior game during the season. Adam was a member of Carlton's 2007 pre-season premiership team.

Jake Edwards is 21 and was Carlton's 4th round selection, number 36 overall, in the 2005 National Draft. Recruited from Melton via the Western Under 18s, he played 5 games for Carlton in 2008 after making his debut in round one but injuries restricted his development and he did not play a senior game in 2009.

Adam Hartlett is 23 and was recruited to Carlton from West Adelaide with selection 25 in the 2004 National Draft. He made his debut in 2007 and played 11 games, including three in 2009. He was a member of Carlton's 2007 pre-season premiership team.

The Rookies
Lachlan Hill
is 20 and has been a rookie with Carlton for two seasons after being recruited from Oakleigh Under 18s in the 2008 Rookie Draft.

Darren Pfeiffer is 22 and was recruited to Carlton in the 2008 Pre-season Draft, having previously been recruited by Adelaide with selection 17 in the 2005 National Draft. He played 8 games for Carlton in 2008 after making his AFL and Carlton debut in round two. He was placed on Carlton's Rookie List in 2009 and played the season with the Northern Bullants.

Luke Stanton will turn 20 in January and he was recruited to Carlton via the Northern Knights Under 18s in the 2008 Rookie Draft.

Further changes to the list will be announced prior to the AFL's first list lodgement deadline of October 30th.

Good luck to those guys but from a Carlton fan and list perspective...thank christ.

Hope Bentick finds a new home ...
Decent player for a length of time when the club was going through some pretty hard times.

No huge surprises. I thought Bannister might have squeezed another year, but injuries seem to have cut him down a little. Always respected him as a player and hope he stays on at the Bullants.

Thought Bentick might have got a run at Sydney but they've probably got the deluxe model in Josh Kennedy. As for the rest....nothing ventured nothing gained. You look at what some rookie listed players have achieved this year and it probably makes sense to turn them over and look for some new talent.

No surprises, Bentick must have known he was gone the day we signed Mclean i reckon. what's the deal with Ellard now, does he have to be promoted? or has he got a year to run?

I'm a bit disappointed for Bannister who I thought over the years had shown that he can mix it at the AFL level. It was only a couple of years ago that he took the scalps of Brad Johnson and Chad Cornes. Whilst never a world beater, he knew how to read the play, could take a mark and was always willing to give the contest.

He suffered injuries last year and had a limited pre-season. He got two opportunities this year where he played one good game and one bad. The rest of the time he spent in the Bullants were he was regularly one of the better players.

I would have thought with the number of younger, lighter players on our list we could have afforded to give this bloke another year.....but I guess the club knows better.

so with all these players gone and more to come
what does this mean for the amount of draft picks we can use and psd selections etc.

At present six gone from the main list, two places filled by Henderson and McLean. Joseph may be the only rookie to be upgraded, meaning we'll use three picks in the ND. That's my take anyway, though I admit to being a bit vague to all the different drafting scenarios.

De-listed rookies will simply be replaced.

If another two are gone as suggested above we may elevate another rookie and possibly have a crack in the PSD, though probably won't be much left in the PSD come our pick.

He's had 2 years which was/is the maximum for rookies but I think it was/is getting changed to 3 years

I hope we don't waste a spot on the senior list upgrading him and we can keep him on the rookie list or redraft him as a rookie if we can't

no offence mate drop it

i know alot more about this kid then u
so i can comment on him

You seem to know more than the club to for that matter. :thumbsu:

no not at all

im just telling you that you have no idea about this kid and i do so u shouldnt comment

Well if the club just delisted him and you think he is going to be a gun you should tell the MC how much you know about him. I am sure they will listen.

No real surprises and these guys have all been given a fair crack at it. Someone has to be delisted every year to make way for new players as happened when these guys first got their shot. Some looked ok at times, like Bentick, and Bano played the odd good game for us (I reckon he will end up on the Bullants list and maybe Bentick will too). Thanks for having a crack fella's hope you find new homes in other clubs or comps.

It says further changes to be notified, but this leaves room for 3 draft and 1 PSD picks, I would say the only announcement to come will be what status Stevens will have, retired and off the list or LTI list once the AFL rules. I cant see we would need any more than 3 ND and 1 PSD pick. In fact I would have thought we would only use 2 ND picks and elevate Joseph with the other pick. And 2 new rookies and re rookie Jacobs and Ellard.

Mate the idea Chism has of him is he has just been dumped off the rookie list. He's a good poster, doesn't post any crap. It's pretty obvious Stanton won't be a gun for Carlton, all the best to him in the future but it's now unlikely he'll be a gun for anyone.
