Do you approve of gambling odds being shown during AFL broadcasts?

I agree 100%. If Vlad is serious then piss off the lot of them.

While we're at it, has anyone noticed the non-stop advertising of gambling on here as well?

They are all a bunch of dirty scumbag khunts. I love the footy, not the endless opportunites to gamble on it.

True, but we can prevent our children (like mine) who ask their parents during the footy, "Dad, what do they mean by the 'odds' on a game?"

I want my kids to grow up with a love for the great game of AFL, not the great pastime of blowing their money on the great game of AFL. It's about normalizing something as insidious as gambling on live events, and that's what's happening with smart devices and gambling in sport.

In a weird way though (and please don't take me out of context here, purely because I'm too lazy to word it more carefully), it's a positive that he's asking you, it gives you the opportunity to explain the evils and dangers of it to him, instead of him being exposed to it another way when he's older where he may not be fully aware of the consequences.

Of course this doesn't happen with everyone, which is the unfortunate thing. Still, if advertising in general isn't made transparent to children, then they're always going to be vulnerable to it, no matter what it's selling.

Gambling isn't going away completely, people in general need to adapt to it's existence and educate about it, similar to what is done all the other "vices" in society such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, etc. I do agree on live odds though, we can do without the exposure to them.

Nah mate. **** her THEN punch her in the head.

(or better yet punch her in the back of the head the moment you're about to finish)

Ease up, Milney.

Sounds good in theory fyfie. Can I ask, do you have kids? My own personal experience as a parent is that kids find out things when they need to, not simply because they exist. I could cite innumerable examples of things that, as a parent (and any parent will tell you this) you withhold from kids, simply because they aren't ready to fully comprehend all the reasonings behind things.

Adding gambling to the viewing mix of kids at such an early age runs the very real risk of creating an association between the two that will be very hard to break, no matter how much you - as a parent - try to keep them apart.

I like Les Norton... and his Wife's friend's knockers.
Ha, you won't believe who's at my joint tonight.
She's staying here, I'll call her Titts McGee.
Theyve both got a day off for ****ing hair cuts tomorrow. Sipping Chardy and watching House Rules, I'd prefer to **** a motorized pencil sharpener than watch that.
I've had half an eye on the Bay, and the other half on Frontiers Of Construction - should see the size of the boat.
Anyway back to **** McGee, I'll be dropping hints soon, like... "I'm watching pr0n on my phone, just thought id let you know."

No, I don't, I can only relate back to my memory of it, which is recent enough. I received full disclosure on most things and ended up without any such issues. In fact, not being given straight answers to some thing was generally what caused the most angst. But that's just my own personal circumstance.

Either way, I respectfully disagree.

You probably received full disclosure at a time when your parents deemed fit. For example were you able to make up your mind on internet pornography? That's an extreme example, I know, but you get my point...

Also not being given 'straight answers' is different to being introduced to a concept at an appropriate time.

I do however respect your opinion as a considered one. I also don't try and hide the reality from my kids when it appears. I simply tell them it's a way of companies trying to make money from viewers when people are trying to mind their own business and enjoy the Swans!
