Speculation Deven Robertson

Dev more valuable to us as depth next season than whatever spud picks wce would have offered.
I’m keeping Jaxon Prior over Dev Robertson as depth in your situation. With Levi coming in and McCarthy coming back he is a mile off getting a game. Prior could atleast be on less money and cover across wing and HB which is where depth is lower

He’d be behind Jack Graham at the Eagles now. Possibly also Allan and Hewitt depending on how they develop next year.
Jack Graham doesn’t come if Dev came I’d say. That’s why our interest is extremely minimal as you put it. If he came to us last year he plays every single week and we would see where he stands. If he does a good job Graham stays at Richmond so Dev can keep playing

I rate Prior but he is behind about half a dozen players at the lions and can only play one position. Dev can play multiple roles.

We’ve got a fair bit of depth at HBF.

Kiddy Coleman to come back, who was our number 1 distributor off half back, before his injury.

Zorko has found a new role off halfback and stays there.

Connor McKenna spent most of the season playing as the substitute.

Shadeau Brain and Luke Beecken went past Prior in the reserves last year.

Brain comes in if Starcevich or Answerth is injured, and Beecken sits behind Wilmot and McKenna as a fast, rebounding defender.

He literally was shithouse and going into a season where Will Ashcroft, Kai Lohmann, Noah Answerth were coming in. He also had the list manager himself surprised he didn’t leave… which isn’t a good sign for a guys decision

He played but they regretted doing so. If someone regrets playing you, I think you kind of need to read the room and make the decision with your brain instead of your daily emotional situation (changed his mind in 1 day).

Who said we regretted playing him? Can I ask why you’re presuming to speak on behalf of Lions staff or fans?

I reckon with guys like Zorko, Neale etc starting to get older the lions will want to hold onto Dev long term for their list profile. He’s a good footballer just stuck behind a lot of great footballers. Good luck to him in 2025 and beyond, I admire the loyalty so far and wish him well.

We have a few mids coming through our academy over the next couple of drafts.

List spots will be tight next season especially if a pair of warner bros come to west coast .

Fringe players at a good team do not equal good players at a poor team, many many examples of that from Geelong over the years so fair enough if the Eagles have no interest in Robertson. Using list spots being tight is comedy gold though. Eagles have about a dozen AFL standard players, how the hell can they have a list squeeze.

Because my eyeballs showed how shithouse he was that day. Your list manager put up little fight to keep him by just offering a 2 year deal and saying take it or go to WCE (which is what he expected to happen). You then proceeded to not bother playing him all year this year too . I think we can look at actions here to come to that conclusion rather then some fake words that dont have any actions backing them up

Deven as a pressure forward would be a terrible idea.

You mean the role he played in 2023 when he was able to break into the side and which he played for most of the GF?

Because its pointless to delist young players who are still contracted to bring in fringe midfielders from elsewhere. Robertson would be ideal for a rookie list spot.

Our OOC players next year are Bazzo, Sheed, Jamieson, Allen, Cole, McGovern, Hunt, Kelly, Brockman, Chesser, Petrucelle, Hutchison, Cripps

So if we take 4 draft picks + 2 Warners in who is the 7th player you are delisting that you think Robertson is better then? (ones id delist are in bold)

So you just made it up?

Evidence stacks up. I dont need evidence to know im breathing oxygen right now by measuring the oxygen levels in my blood to confirm it. I can take the evidence that im still conscious and lungs are moving to prove that. This is what im doing here

You want the oxygen levels in the blood to prove it. I think you can just look at the other aspects and realise the reality

Most kids don’t come on as quickly as Naicos, Will Ashcroft, Sheezel etc. Keeping a decent spread across different age profiles is good security IMO but I’m not a list manager, nor do I have the most intricate knowledge of every current Lions player and their talent pipeline.

Will be an interesting season ahead for Dev.

Pretty much the role he’s played in the senior team the whole time he’s been here.
A pressure forward is someone who plays deep to get tackles in the inside 50. Dev doesnt play that. He played more as a HFF who pushes up the ground.

In saing that thats what he plays at AFL. At VFL he is in the middle. Its when he comes to the AFL that he magically changes roles, mainly because he isnt good enough at Brisbane to play his primary one

You are correct.

Exactly the same happened with Ben Keays before Dev.

He lacks composure in the midfield, so tends to throw the ball on his boot as soon as he wins it.

If he has time and space, he can deliver the ball pretty well. It’s just that often there’s more perceived pressure on him than actually exists, so he just hack kicks the ball forward.

As a pressure forward, he’s fast and able to put in repeated efforts in one passage. But often he’s not the beneficiary of his defensive efforts.
