Thanks roorat, I thought Smith was from either Glenorchy or the valley of love. I also knew Andrews was drafted by Adelaide from the Mariners, but I was more wondering what his junior club was.
Rowan Andrews has played a lot of footy at Kingborough, I think you'll find. Not sure if he played all of his juniors there (might have played a season or two at Clarence?), but he has played some junior and senior footy at Kingborough

We probably need to agree to disagree on this one Gibbke, I don't think either of us will change our thinking in the near future, but I promise not to bag you when your devil worshipping overcomes you.
BTW - what is it with you and Flanders?

Worshipping is a bit far...

Not a fan of the Simpsons?? The "okely dokely" line is a common Ned Flanders line...that's why I used the comparison ;)

The devils have to be a big chance against Werribee tomorrow - they seem to have risen to the challenge since the coach resigned - any more talk on whats been happening with Cresswell??

I'm heading along tomorrow expecting the Deils to put in a good show and knock off Werribee for the first time in the regular season. Looking forward to see how Mitch Robinson goes after his superb U/18 form.

Well, the Devils could only muster 1.9 after half time, compared to Werribee's 14.12. They were that insipid after half time you could have put the under 15's from wa wa noo out there and they would have shown more resistance!

Score for the records: Werribee 17.19-121, Devils 7.14-56

Oh no not again............:D
Geelong 2.2 5.4 7.7 14.12 (96)
Tasmania 3.2 5.9 7.12 9.14 (68)

GOALS:
Geelong: Gamble 5 Hawkins 3 Davenport 2 Moles 2 Hogan Simpkin
Tasmania: Bongetti 2 Street 2 Salter Robinson Shackleton Hardy Cornelius

BEST:
Geelong: Djerrkura Gamble West Byrne Laidler McKenna
Tasmania: Street Richter Savage Shackleton Thurley Bowden

Haven't the new recruits gone well!

Not a newcomer among the mentions at all!

Noticed Langford among the mentions for Brighton last week, he was trumpeted as "Chris Langford's half Brother" pre-season and has barely fired a shot.

And Tim Hazell? Well all he's done this year is shoot those stupid looking adds.

About "Sicksesss!"

The only bloke that looked like firing a shot consistently all season is Tim Bongetti, but he's been off the boil against Werribee and looked like it today against Geelong going by the match scores, only getting 2.

How would they go against the Gold Coast, which will be the new VFL side in 2010 before they enter the AFL in 2011...??

It's been a bit disappointing, but at least it isn't as bad as what we would get with North Melbourne...

Unlike the early years, there aren't many top notch Tasmanians on the outer in the AFL, as Ben Beams, Trent Bartlett and co were...outside aging Robbo and Richo, there's not much you'd target as a top notch ex-AFL Tasmanian born recruits...players like Sherman won't be leaving their team any time soon...

But on the other hand, go for youth above all else and you are sinking as well as swimming...and I'm fundamentally opposed to the Devils being used as a development team (as opposed to a side rebuilding through youth)...

So we might need to be patient...this is one of the few times the cricket team and the footy team have something in common...we groaned when Dirk Wellham captained 6 NSW born players in the late 80's, but at least we stopped losing...years later, we're doing it much more on our own...

Bongetti?

Wasn't he supposedly close to getting dropped earlier in the year?

Hardly, what I'd call "looking like firing a shot consistently"!

Thats what I was thinking as well.......

Another comment by the Duff himself a few weeks back on Bongetti in post 6721

"Having said all that Bongetti needs to be dropped or sent packing. Played up like a baby and made a d...head of himself"

Ian Callinan, the Grima brothers and Luke Crane would be would be handy ex Tasmanian recruits if they came back next year. As would players like Kent Abey (who has represented the QAFL most years), and maybe the likes of Sam Isles if he gets deisted or Lee from Essendon. Say if you got all these blokes playing for Tassie then we'd be a much better side.

Funny that this is one of the statistics they gloss over in their Wadewide League plan while the others they HAVE to act on.....
Is your club supportive of the Tasmanian
Devils in the VFL?
North West
25% Yes
12.5% Not sure
62.5% No
North
0% Yes
12.5% Not sure
87.5% No
South
75% Yes
12.5% Not sure
12.5% No
Tasmania
33.3% Yes
12.5% Not sure
54.2% No

Wadewide League! Brilliant!

75% in the South supporting?

I wonder if some of the clubs replied in the affirmative so as not to upset Mr Wadewide?!

i would've thought its safe to assume that southern clubs support the devils for the same reason that the north and northwest clubs don't support them...

the centralisation of the "tasmania" devils in hobart is robbing the northern leagues of their players.
