Not trolling, not being sarcastic.

Did Bomber have any plan whatsoever, did he implement anything specifically tailored to Collingwood at all?

I must of missed it?

Felt like I just watched a prelim final where a team was blindly playing with absolutely no plan.

That's not even bringing up the mistakes at the selection table.

Other than deflecting the last few weeks, and saying 'their best will beat anyone' Cats fans, please tell me what exactly he did to prepare for tonight?

bomber arrogantly thought they would win no matter what the pies dished up, thats they way it has been for the cats the past couple of years in particular, absolutely refusing to believe that maybe just maybe there was another side out there that is actually better than them, the last 2 years they have not been the best side, last year they got lucky in the gf and this year they didnt so can cats fans please explain to me the reasons for being so arrogant when they were not head and shoulders above everyone else like they seemed to think??.

he clearly thought their style would win and did no research into stopping Collingwoods structure, first quarter was embarassing and showed limited preparation on their opposition.

big winner of the night will be Ross Lyon if the saints win, clearly would of seen sitting in the stands seeing not what to do.

We have only ever had a Plan A, which is pretty much all we needed given the quality of players we have had.

But as shown in 08 and tonight, when plan A isn't working, we get beaten comprehensively. Wouldn't surprised if we have a change of game plan for next year, given our ageing list and no Ablett.

There's a lot to respect and admire about Geelong but Bomber isn't one of those things. Shit coach, shit bloke.

He definitely backed the players and the game plan TO much.

It was pretty frustrating to say the least - especially considering it was obviously not working from very very early in the game.

I doubt much could have stopped the Pies though.

i have all ways said he cant coach , what a tool even i could have coached a great side like geelong ,may be thompson should go to the gold coast with ablett.

ps GOOD BYE pod , mooney , enright , ling , ottens,

Yes once the team was up and flying you probably could have coached them. However that list of players didn't just magically appear at the club one day.

Geelong have been successful because they stick to Plan A no matter what. It has worked more times than not so it is understandable as to why they would stick to it.

Then again maybe Bomber was just overly tired tonight. He did move houses during the week so that may have taken a bit out of him lol.

So you have actually met him to form that opinion of him personally?

So I didn't imagine it, there was no plan, none whatsoever.

Just a bunch of Geelong players playing blind.

I just keep flashing back to Bombers presser after the St Kilda game, he did not own that loss at all, that's when he lost this week IMO.

He lost it during the week - no Mackie or Blake, arrogance of trying to teach them a lesson but you have to play your top 22 in prelimins, Hawkins doesn't provide enough opportunity and Mckie provides drive out of the back half which they had none. Mind you I doubt anyone would have beat the pies tonight - they were pretty awesome.

OMG.. you won, good on ya.

Bomber has coached an awesome side for the last few years and if you think he did nothing then you are obviously uneducated...

Think before you post... what a deadbeat!

When plan A is showing cracks, as early as mid season, surely you need to do your homework.

It's not about even abandoning plan A, it's just implementing strategy to compliment it.

Ottens as your no 1 Ruck no Blake,Thomahawk Full forward playing Ruck Fail. and to leave a rebounding HBF in Mackie out in preference to Hunt Bizzare.

He is an arrogant smug fecker. His pety mind games
didn't work an that was the only move he had.

In all seriousness the fact that the cats only won two flags in their period of dominance highlights bomber as an ordinary coach

Give yourself an uppercut now and go back to your trailer park home and beat up your mrs you deadbeat idiot..

YOU HAVEN"T ACHIEVED ANYTHING YET!

He has hardly coached in 4 years. Bomber's talent has been in developing and nurturing individual players - turning moderate talents with good character into very good, and in some cases great players. He has certainly come up lacking when the tactical question has been put to him. Should have moved with the times and accepted that in order to keep winning you have to keep evolving.

Coaches need to evolve, even Mick Malthouse evolved...adopting St Kilda's forward pressure, and taking it to another level.

Bomber would of done well to adopt some key plays from Neil Craig a couple of weeks ago, shut down key players (O'Brien) play Mackie (similar to Johncock) and just run and create.

If Geelong came into this game having beaten the other top sides with "Geelong footy' on their previous meetings, I would of understood this bullish attitude.

The results of Rd 19 and week 1 of the finals, was the players fault though, and 'un-geelong like'

I realise St Kilda have a game to play yet, but even if we lose, I at least know that the coach would of put some thought into strategy, structures and players.

Have to agree Claude Balls, Thompson has traded off 2007 and that game plan for too long. Has not made changes, has not developed the game, has not taken risks, has not motivated the Players.
They did it in 2007, it failed in 2008 and they toughed it out last year. Great players, who according to Thompson make the decisions( ask how many times you have heard him say 'I leave it to the Players')but sometimes they need some help. They got none tonight and it looked very much like the homework had not been done.
Leaving Mackie out was dumb, no explanation either so we are all left wondering, just like leaving Wojinski out of the 2008 GF(and putting an injured Stokes on Hodge) as is playing Joel Corey off the back line.
This is a Coach who has reaped the rewards from a great and hard working list, a Coach who takes no responsibility-after the 2008 GF loss he said it wasn't his fault.A Coach who doesn't understand that he is lucky that his skin was saved after the disaster of 2006 when he gave the order in late 2005 not to train hard over the pre-season.
So no tonight he didn't coach well and the one glimpse on the TV showed him doing nothing and looking very sulky.

Geelong would have to be the worst defensive midfield in the game. They give the ball and never move up to that player to protect them with a shepherd. It's all just stand off and wait for a handball receive.

And that's all about the coaching.
