didnt laugh at all. it was cringeworthy. poor form on davids behalf and the umpire. and the report was even worse. reprimand. tribunal is a joke.

did any one else laugh when after stanton kicked his goal he ran to the carlton player to berate him and the carlton player just dropped to the ground? again i thought you could get penalised for diving but the umpire got sucked in by the players oscar worthy acting

You must be sick of Davey and Monfries then

FWIW thought Blues got the umpiring early....

Did you even watch the game?

The umpires were like extra players for Essendon until the last quarter when the game was well and truly won

FWIW thought Blues got the umpiring early, we had it for the 2nd & 3rd, didn't notice the last. Massively, massively over-officiated.

The free kick count was something like 22 to Carltons 11 at half time, with Essendon receiving 4 50's to Carltons 0. The first 2 of Essendons goals (and the fist 4 Bomber disposals) came from free kicks.

The umps were consistently shocking, but its a tad unfair to say Carlton had the rub of the umpires for any period of that match.

There was definitely one that confused me that Judd got, possibly leading to the first inside 50 of the match?

Youll get no complaint from me that the umpiring was awful.

Im just not persuaded that Carlton got the rub of it for any period of the game.

The Hampson free in f50 was a joke. But made up for the Monfries free kick in the first quarter. The Hille free was 50/50 (Robbo ducked into the tackle but Hille stuck his elbow out) but was made up for the Hille free for headbutting Hampson. The non goal to Neagle was made up for with Waites non goal (that was a 12 point turnaround) etc.

I certainly didnt feel we got the 'rub' for any consistent period of that game.

Without neccessarily agreeing with S_20's point, free kick counts mean nothing. You gave away a lot of free kicks from terrible tackling technique, for example.

IIRC, the first goal came from a centre square infringement, then there was a free kick to Judd for something, then Warnock grabbed the ball out of the ruck inside defensive 50 :)eek: what was he thinking?). Bang, 2.0 v 1.0 from free kicks.

That whole Hille/Robinson thing was just a joke at the umpire's expense.

& We certainly had the majority of it.

I guess the positive is, since you've had one bad week maybe you're due for a good week. Didn't cost you more than a few fractions of percentage.

I noticed this as well.

I wasnt sure if we were just poor at tackling, or you guys have been instructed to 'ride forward' when tackled.

In all seriousness, its probably not a bad thing to be instructed to do.

And no-one wants to see a game start that way.

Ill give you the Warnock one by the way. Thats a free every day of the week.

I think it's just poor technique, because I haven't seen it to that extent in any other game. They're 2 free kick turn arounds, because in a lot of them, you had us cold for HTB.

Agreed. The Warnock one is beyond debate, but I don't even know what the other two were for.

We got smashed for similar in the North game a few weeks back, so It could very well be poor technique.

I think our blokes were instructed to be a little 'overzealous' during the week as well.
