Do people still eat chocolate/ice cream/treats when dieting or cutting?

I have ice cream pre-workout because it sits well in the stomach. I also had Coco-pops when I was dieting down because oddly I have great self-control with it. My trigger food is oats out of all things. Got absolutely shredded once I swapped in Coco-pops lol.

But if you don't have good self-control with treats you're asking for trouble.

Yes you can as long you make those calories fit into your overall calorie allowance.

It's a double edge sword, some people can suffer there way through cutting and avoid these foods to avoid triggering a binge. Others will eat small amounts to satisfy cravings and avoid binge eating.

These guys know a hell of a lot more compared to me but it all depends on what you're final goal is
This determines the steps

Also depends on what a treat is
A treat to me is a bag of crisps or a Twix late at work to get that fake sugar hit
A bowl of ice cream is a no no

Everyone's diff

Boy oh boy wowee... Shame Daz has been given time away as I would have loved his opinion not only on the article but the actual author.
If it was April 1st I would have a chuckle and move on, but it's deadly serious.

"There seems to be a long held, widespread belief that saturated fat causes bad health, especially heart disease, perhaps some cancers and other ailments. This belief has often been used to defend vegan and vegetarian diets. Unfortunately, this is a weak defense. Not only does this misguided argument illustrate the importance of relying on sound science for food and health recommendations, it undercuts the very important health message portraying the benefits of consuming whole, plant-based foods.

"Now, for some specifics. Saturated fat is much more common in animal-based foods, thus inferring to most people that this is a big reason why consumption of these foods should be minimized or avoided."

Whereas "Unsaturated fat (PUFAs) are susceptible to tissue damaging oxidation, and saturated fat is not. Oxidation brings into consideration the formation of chemically reactive oxygen (as ‘reactive oxygen species, ROS) that causes aging and increases cardiovascular disease and cancer. For example, plant oils experimentally promote cancer much more than does saturated fats—that’s right. This is an experimental observation that is at least 30-40 years old."

Author..... wait for it.... T Colin Campbell.

Only reason I asked because there was an article on news.com about Kim Kardashian tweeting how she lost 6lb getting the flu and said it was great
She then got roasted by people saying that's really not a smart thing to say as young girls who are body conscious will try to get sick on purpose to lose weight

I had a slight chuckle

Yes, he's banned - see his post, ^4253 above.
He would have kittens over that article. I have never seen a bigger backflip in the world of nutrition than that one.... ever.
There will be literally hundreds of thousands of very pissed off people around the world at the moment. I'm still in disbelief.

Tbh I'm struggling with my diet atm.
Binging on crap on a Saturday and cann9t for the life of me get rid of the pot belly
Think I might just stop eating altogether for a month!!
I see how frustrating and hard it must be for people who are obese or 'fat' to lose a lot of weight
Similar boat.
Thinking I may need to literally get rid of carbs

ive tried a lot of things.....but im an impatient ******

I managed to drop near on 5 kg in about 9 days by eating **** all.....dunno what happened after that as im back up to where I was.
thinking of just fasting for about three months lol

Do you find that regular exercise helps at all mate, for managing what you eat?

In my own case it's a double benefit - the advantage of the exercise itself, plus less of a desire to eat crap. Sure, there's plenty of appetite there, but I find myself wanting to eat more fruit, nuts, salad etc.

Maybe it's just a bit of a mind game, but luckily it works for me.

you put it all back on because crash diets don't work

When it comes to sustainable weight loss for those who have tried and found it difficult in the past, there's a lot to be said for completely eliminating grain/cereals, not just for a few months but take the view for good.
It works because it changes your focus on food and you don't have to "diet" and you end up eating less, but the meals you do have are bigger and more fulfilling.
I do the grain free 7/17 and TBH cannot remember the last time I was starving

So do you eat any complex carbs?

grain are complex carbs so naturally I avoid them, but I eat heaps of vegies, nuts and seed and a little fruit, I probably average around 30-50g of carbs per day depending on what I eat, some day's maybe under 10.

See my sig :)
