What are the thoughts around that divison this season? Any teams going to improve and challenge or the same Whitehorse, Chirnside and Warrandyte fighting it out? Bulleen the unknown?

Bulleen Templestowe finished bottom of D2 in the VAFA (5th Division) so wouldn’t expect much from them. They won three games so not totally hopeless, but be surprised if they are very good.

Yeah always hard to convert leagues and divisions, wonder if there will be a difference in the styles of footy or whether it’s very similar transition from them! Will be interesting to see if it’s even or whether the top 2-3 are in a division of their own

Historically VAFA was a bit more “outside” than the EFL.
Though I suspect that gap has closed a fair bit over the past decade or 2!

Based on Croydon North MLOC's performance since joining the EFNL, I can't see Bulleen Templestowe doing a lot, at least for a few years.

Years ago I did a few Ammos games when we had interleague swaps. The footy just felt strangely different - I said to people it was like comparing Rubgy Union vs Rugby League.

The Old Paradians finished 7th in D2 (Division 5) of the VAFA in 2023. With some clever recruiting, a great new coaching group and excellent player development of young players, we won the Division 3 premiership in the NFNL.

Not saying it's apples and apples, but maybe the change is what they needed and they might surprise a few.

Any relation to MLOC died very early i heard. Surprised they are even in their club name anymore, probably a period of 5-10 years after their constitution was established before they can change it.

Gilmore from Heidelberg was a pretty handy get lol, don't think BT have the resources for that, but they were quite young last year and definitely need to recruit some experience. They'd be on the phone to any ex junior whose left you'd think, come back and get paid as a 1 pointer.

It's very quite at minute from both camps.

If they were to join forces, surely they would be telling everyone about it?

Yeah, heard it on here, probably was BS, nuna's coach has gone to "head of footy" at croydon north, will be on the blower trying to get more to come with him for sure.

Nuna will be like Glen Waverley, nothing will be said, they’ll give them til as late as possible to put together a side.

Given their coach and a lot of their senior players have left, you’d think they’ll be battling to field a side.

They may still have a women’s team however.

Merging with Forest Hill will just delay the inevitable for both clubs, without juniors they’re pushing shit uphill, particularly with the big clubs around them.

Speaking of Forest Hill, if Ashwood still harbour ideas of joining the league, wouldn’t think that poaching contracted players would win them many fans.

Said it before, say again, the EFNL is kidding itself with an expansion agenda, there is not the players to go around, Glen Waverley went, Oakleigh District only survived because they took all their players, now what about Nuna and Forest Hill. And some clubs in all divisions incl Premier struggling to field reserves in 2024. Norwood have had to feast on Nunawading just to build a list.

Forest Hills look to be losing a few now
I wouldn't too sure about that, the 9 players who have left Forest Hill so far, are all U19's. It looks like they couldn't get an U19 team up. Mitcham and Vermont have grabbed 5 of them. It's a difficult position for a club without an U19 team and half their U17's go up to U19. If you have a team you generally have about half the team with another year to go at the end of the season. That's what's happened with the 9 players, with all of them coming up from U17. When transfers are up at the end of Jan we will get a better idea.

Rowe has gone to Ashwood - a club stalwart and Burger who was announced as returning also now announced at Ashwood. Plus their best kid who has left to play higher grade

are Kilsyth any chance this season? They going up or down the ladder or just same old story middle of the road?
have they signed anyone? if not then they're probably going to be off the pace again but it's such a hard division to read

anyone know if Odermatt, Stephens, Ficorilli etc are going around again for Chirnside?

Not sure about Odermatt & Stephens but Ficorilli is the playing coach this year.

Sad, Nuna looked like some kind of u19s was finally in the works, too little too late. Few clubs in the vafa around the area might also feast on their corpse. Box hill north have really good facilities and looked to have turned around their fortunes lately.

Oakleigh pillaging glen waverly did their efnl stocks no harm in the move, ashwood will prob get away with it too.

Clubs in areas with high indian/chinese/asian in general migration will eventually be in the same boat. Not a inch of racist thinking behind it, just facts!

A junior feeder program/school is just so vital these days, clubs would be mad not to shore things up and make sure you don't lose them to someone else, all it takes is a few coaches to infiltrate the ranks and bang they are gone.
