Disagree.

We went into that first game with Tex injured, Thilthorpe out after a massive pre season, our main key defender in Murray injured, Soligo - who we were targeting to be central to our midfield - carrying an injury, Sloane and Curtin injured.

I think we were all over the place.
This is the 3rd time you’re repeating this rubbish.
Soligo was not carrying an injury he played as the sub and has played since.
Tex was passed fit to play.
Sloane was/should not have been in our plans this year.
Curtin was not considered a mid at that point.

Give it rest and stop this revision of what happened.

Lets take everyone of those one by one -

Murray - missed the last 5 rounds of 2023 but didn’t stop us from beating Port, Gold Coast and West Coast and losing by a kick to Brisbane and Sydney
Tex - missed one game then played the next 11 games
Thilthorpe - yes, we lacked him
Soligo - well putting him as sub first game was just a weird selection choice so if we went down early with an injury he would have had to play a majority of the game. If he wasn’t right then don’t play, more evidence of our coaches not having a clue
Sloane - was past it and his form has dropped off massively, just look at 2023.
Curtin - why the **** are you including him? Grasping at straws there. He was never playing as we have seen in the Showdown 55 - benched.

Sorry but we didn’t have a massive injury list which accounted for our 0-4 start. Nicks doesn’t have a clue. End of story.

Mostyn the king of throwing thing out like they are fact, but never responds, yet is the first one to ask someone else to provide proof for something.

The most important thing for the club to grasp this offseason is that we've entered the second rebuild already this season, with the likes of Dowling, Taylor, Bond replacing the likes of Jones, McHenry, Shoenberg etc that we've been pumping games into. Unfortunately we still haven't cut deep enough and are still wasting games on the likes of Laird, Murphy etc and have been reluctant to put games into Curtin.

Still, we need to keep going with that. We know that the team Nicks has built over the first five years culminated in sucking ass, and we're not getting that AA Tex back.

Inserting elite talent into the midfield is the priority over the next few years. Hopefully Curtin is piece one, get piece two this year, piece three next year.

Why is that almost certain?

This year was an accurate representation of where we are.

We had a lot of injuries. I suspect if Rankine stays on the park, all our recruits stay fit and our squad continues to grow as in our young midfield, we will probably have a 2023 type performance. We are better as far as players go than where we are now, due to injuries and Nicks.

We didn't have a lot of injuries. We were middle of the pack for injuries.

Significant Adelaide injuries in 2024

Murray
TT
Worrell

That is all.

It’s like Roo on the telecast the other night. “Haven’t had anywhere their best side all year”

Give me a spell.

We didn't have a lot of injuries. We were middle of the pack for injuries.

We had injuries to enough of our best 22 players to expose Nicks for lack of development which resulted in an embarrassingly low depth level. We have a coach who demanded to do a full rebuild, but basically opted to play the same 25 players win lose or draw for two seasons. Leaving us with a huge gaping hole in our development. Which it took only a handful of injuries to expose.

He is pathetic, I am not defending this guy.

Yeah, but they were only a middle of the pack amount. There's no reason to think we also won't get exposed next year.

I'm not convinced just having Rankine a few more games solves the issue either. We lost plenty with him this year.

It doesn't give you much confidence in the club going forward.
In multiple areas of the club, they just can't identify traits that make good afl players.
From Nicks, to the selection committee to Hamish, they just don't seem to be able to select the talents that will get us a winning formula.
After 12 years, Hamish is still picking 2nd and 3rd round midfielders that aren't suitable for the current game.
And that's why everyone is so frustrated with the way Curtin has been handled.
