Do we play too much "Arsenal style" footy

I have noticed a disproportionate number of West Ham supporters among the North Melbourne Big Footy crew. There seems to me to be a link in mindset and character of the two clubs. I don't believe Arden Street has ever had its own Inter City Firm, but going all Green Street on our nearest rivals to the north west does have some appeal.

They're a bit like *. Way back when they needed to move in on another teams territory and steal players in order to be successful. Also have no heart and still rely on the success of a near invincible team in the early 2000's to provide them with any joy.
If that's what Arsenal rely on what on earth do spurs do??? Still watching that dvd you made after you beat us in the Carling Cup

Appreciate a culture that favours attacking, entertaining football; a proud history of being based exclusively in North London, a storied history including milestones such as being the first British club to win a European trophy, the first club to win the FA Cup/League double in the 20th century, and being one of only two clubs to win a trophy in every decade following the post-war period amongst others. ;)

As long as Petrie isn't our Bendtner, I'll take that.

And there are certainly mongrel parallels between Thompson and Koscielny.

Who is North's glamour though?

For the ladies.

And some of the gents.

I'd say Swallow. If any.

Diaby - Robbie Tarrant (talent is there. Just can't get on the pitch)
Ramsey - Luke McDonald (all our faith is in both)
Walcott - Atley (pure speed. Just need to get the ball more)
Arteta - Gibson (keeps things ticking over) - Everyone wants better
Kozzer - Thompson (as mentioned above)
Mertesacker - Petrie (leader. Not the flashiest but does his job)
Ozil - Nicky Dal
Jack Wilshere - Jack Ziebell / Swallow
Sanchez - Turner (don't stop and make things happen with their defensive pressure)
Sanogo - Daw (lots of natural ability but still lots of question marks)
Welbeck - Black (bit in-between, lots of potential, young but need to take the next step)
Oxlade-Chamberlain - Boomer (makes things happen when they get the ball)
Gibbs - Grima (good when they can stay on the park)

Haha no worries. I must say though, I do love watching Aaron Ramsey, he is ridiculously good when he actually gets on the park. I take issue with you comparing that utter insufferable campaigner Wilshere to Ziebell and Swallow. There's no one at North like that absolute ****ing dickhead.

Pretty pretty good.

As a lady - what a butterface the above gentleman is.
Sadly the loss of Ed Lower and Leigh Brown has left us bereft in the glamour department.

Also I think it's about playing the percentages. Both occasions you have pointed out were the right option in my opinion.

Arsene has also stated the same thing (why shoot from further out with a lower percentage of return (pretty much handing the ball back to the opposition)). Only difference is Arsenal went to ridiculous lengths at times. North do not

Good post. Though sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't just take the shot, especially guys like Wells and Basti who seem to get themselves in trouble trying to pass off when they could take the shot and nail it more often than not.

Up the mighty irons. Man City was made our bitches and so will the gunners.

I actually enjoy watching arsenal over most clubs.

Arsenal were crazy methodical in the glorious Alex Hleb era. Before then they were 1 touch counter turning defence to a shot on goal in a matter of seconds. Bergkamp, pires and Henry all loved a shot from outside.

I haven't watched soccer this season but they have some unbelievable pace in the side, just plonk Ozil behind 3 bombers and wait on the break.

These campaigners have needed a destroyer for so long as we have needed a tagger

We did once actually have a firm called the "coffin push" dating about 90 years back.

Some of their stories make for great reading.

THE ASSOCIATION CLUBS.
Disturbance at, North Melbourne.
. NOTES BY OLD BOY.
North Melbourne and Northcote should have provided a good game on Saturday at Melbourne, but unfortunately, it was not, and at no stage did it rise above junior standard! Bad umpiring led
to all sort of objectionable features, and the ball became quite a secondary object. Keeling was worked up until early in the last quarter the two centre men, Donelly (North Melbourne) and Gittens (Northcote) came to blows, and had a good set-to. Other players joined in. Then
a spectator came accross the ground and took a punch, and in a moment the crowd was over the fence, and ,the-ground invaded. The spectator who had first intruded was removed by a constable. A trooper and several other police eventually cleared the ground, and the game was resumed by the ball being bounced on the site of the melee. At the end of the match a crowd of young men gathered outside the gate, and road metal was thrown at the cars from Northcote. One cabman was pulled off the seat of his cab, but regained it, and got clear with a broken window. The crowd followed the Northcote players to the tram, at the corner of Abbotsford and Arden street, and there were some more stone-throwing, some windows in the tram's rear being broken.
The Northcote players got away in various directions. The police
regard the circumstance as due to the presence of The Coffin Push and/or other pushes. It is understood that several rousers will be indited. The football needs little description. There was no doubt which was the better side, but North Melbourne were far below their usual form, and failed to maintain their standard. The scores tell
all in a nice way

Yeah ozil and theo will bring out the best in one another. Looking forward to seeing ozil playing behind ox, Sanchez and Walcott.

You are right about a defensive midfielder. Besides one season of flamini we've needed one since Gilberto left.

The thought of "forever blowing bubbles" turns my stomach ever since the NRL "bubbling" pics made headlines.

Yet Wenger keeps buying players that play the same position, it's probably what keeps Arsenal from being title-contenders. As well as a destroyer you could probably use another centre-half, with the exception of an out of position Callum Chambers, after selling Vermaelen there's very little depth in that area. I'd hate (love) to see what would happen if Mertesacker and Koscielny got injured.

Monumental stuff up not buying another CB. We were already short. Instead he grabbed one and lost djourou, Miquel, and vermaelen.

Monreal has been better lately though

But unlike North, Spurs will forever be inferior to Arsenal.
