Hell no. Time was up. Taken the team as far as it will go.
Wells et al certainly believe we will be in a position next year to contend. We are slow and old, but there are some guns, some pride, and we are not yet dead and buried.

Narkle, stengle, Holmes, SDK, stephens(?) may just be the injection of youf and leg speed we are looking for.

Id rather he be extended or gone but not in the middle out of contract.

If he remained out of contract there’s every chance he would simply have gone all out for 2022 at the expensive of younger players on the list, and then leave at the end of the year for someone else to clean up.

This at least forces his hand as he’s committed now and has to start to rebuild this list and give younger players opportunity.

I think he can do that while still having a go and a decent crack at the flag.

Depends if they are willing to roll the dice and get 4-5 kids in the team, and they really kick on. I don’t see scott willing to change though. Too stubborn. Probably won’t even change the game plan.

No, but not for the same reasons.
I wanted the club to see until next year what direction to take, if we end up doing the same as usual (finishing high but shitting the bed in finals with a style and list that doesn't stand up) and we lose a few players to retirement (Selwood almost certainly, perhaps 1 or 2 more might pull the pin early) I think it's worth doing a hard reset. You cannot do that with an established coach whose been there for 13 years and has close relationships/bias with certain players, it needs a fresh voice.
Well the club just took away that opportunity.
It seems to me we are constantly just looking to play it safe.

Srsly- who the hell is he screwing and/or what kind of information is holding over someone.

Because f’ed if I ******* know how he is continuing to get contract extensions. :rolleyesv1:

I don’t mind people who disagree with him staying, there are reasons for and against it.

This sort of hyperbole is just ridiculous though.

Look back through history and tell me how many coaches have been sacked after going ‘prelim-grand final-prelim’ and then tell me why someone would have to be doing something underhanded to keep their job.

Jesus ****ing christ, its called frustration.

I'm not serious obviously.

Keep on enjoying your prelim/GF loss/prelims tho :thumbsupv1:
