Yes from me.

I'm not Chris' biggest fan either. I don't usually enjoy his pressers - not nearly as much as I used to enjoy Bombers.

But I also believe in people and their ability to change and continue to improve. I believe that Chris would be reflecting now on many things including the track record, the assistants he had, the effectiveness of his game plan, his own management style and would be looking at ways to improve. I believe that this in contrast to bringing in a new coach - presumably untried - would be more reliable than a faster and more serious change for changes sake (which would appease all the Scott detractors, for sure) but would also come with far more unknown.

As they say, better the devil you know...

How many years of finals failures should it take to make changes though? It's the keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expect a different result that burned me. It shouldn't take 6 years of the same things happening before the penny drops. He's too stubborn for his own good.

Just because a you lose 6 prelims does not mean you lost them all in the exact same way, just sayin'.

If not for an unstoppable Dusting Martin in 2020 and Varcoe missing a sitter in 2013 (and Geelong choking in 2019) Scott could well be a two or three time premiership coach. The game plan and list has changed several times, and continues to take Geelong to the pointy end of the season.

The best thing about this year is the massive changing of personnel both at coaching and operational level, and it would be foolish to do a Carlton, and get rid of both the coach and a good chunk of assistants and ops members at the same time. Scott has earned another contract, and you'd be foolish to think someone who has coached a side to four of the last five prelims hasn't.

Jordan Clark - no hard feelings with the Cats - i just wanted to get back to the run and carry - breaking lines - taking the game on

That is a huge indictment ( given how Geel fail dismally when Oppo teams do that to the Cats ) on the Senior coach - and that stupid missfits backline cosy arrangement amongst the defenders

Scott has had 11 years - that is a fair go - but the style of play that Jordan Clark is alluding to - thats why i wanted Scott gone

I wanted a new Senior coach to come in - and basically say - forget totally what you have been told - where going to do it my way - and all 22 positions - are open and up for grabs

The Yes brigade - oh but we finish in the finals - but then get found - surely you get sick of that . And all this nonsense - you cant have an untried Senior coach - what alot of garbage

And i dont care how far Geel fall - dont qualify for the finals playing rubbish football- it is just a waste of time

NO. What's the point of having a coach who can get you in to the finals only to be flogged regularly once you get there? It defies logic.

In many finals Scott couldn't even pump the team up enough to remain competitive until quarter time! This is an indictment of his motivational skill, you would think, as much of his understanding of what is required in modern finals footy.

He is bright enough and quite articulate but too given to repeating rubbish like "our best footy is good enough to beat anyone" ( yeah right) and "we want to be playing our best footy t the end of the year" (if only).

So NO NO and NO.

Should be given an open ended contract stating the jobs his until he decides to call quits. That will give us ten or twelve years (at least) to head hunt a replacement.

Lets be honest, eleven years of crashing and burning in finals is not remotely long enough to see if he has what it takes to get us to the holy land once more, just gotta be patient.

Will be interesting if things go pear shaped next year. Does Scott walk or stay for the last two years? There'll be little alternative other than to rebuild in 2023, does he want to do that? Do the club want him to oversee one?

I'm on the fence. They've backed him in and we've already seen significant change on the coaching side, which many of us have been calling for years. Now we still have a number of those positions unfilled so it'll be interesting to see who comes in alongside Kel. I don't count Eddie because he's only part time development, even though his addition will be vital.

I'm hoping as a result we see a significant change to the game plan, which gets us top 4 almost yearly but completely crumbles under finals heat. Is it solely the plan, or the players unable to deal with pressure. It's not a stretch to say it's a combination of both. So hopefully a sizeable injection of youth and a change in plan can potentially some way to correcting that. But I say hopefully because until we see us on field we won't know. And I take any word from the club with the smallest grain of salt I can find. They've proven they're all talk no walk.

I believe our window has now closed, but can understand the aim to go again. But we can't do that with the current group or the current system unless they overhaul it, freshen it up, particularly the midfield. Some luck with injuries would be nice too as that no doubt contributed in some way to us falling in a heap late in the season.

It's only early days but at least there's been some acknowledgement that things have to change. But as always the proof will be in the pudding.

This poll is a case study of our society’s complete failure to teach Bayesian thinking.

Waiting for someone to mention weevil logistics :tearsofjoy:

Anyone who's seen the kim duthie thread on the scandals and rumours board will know what i'm talking about.

Voted no.

Although I'm really glass half full. Scott has showed the ability to evolve and change over the years make a game plan that works with the group he is given so its not all bad. I don't think Hocking and co would have re-signed him if he wasn't on board with the direction the club needs to go and up for blooding some younger players. Wells has already alluded to the club taking a different direction next year so will be interesting to see if this true or they are just words.

All the same the contract extension was pre-mature for mine. I would of liked to let a good chunk of next year play out before making a decision on re-signing him.

Good luck Charlie.
