we've done this before when we've seen a group around our pick that we rate equally. When that is the case, the extra pick is a gift.

be nice to rebuild our hand for next year though, then look at bringing our F1 into this year.
but then we may be able to do that anyway, swap f1’s with Brisbane, throw in a F3 and get their 18 this year if we’re giving up 19

If this is a happening thing, Goater may be the one the crows want and are happy to drop a bit. Then pick 19 - the 1st pick on night 2 of the draft becomes quite valuable - either select a kid ourselves that has dropped or trade it for more value

GWS might be temped to switch pick 2 and 13 for your 4 and 8. If Freo was ultra keen on Callaghan, that is very attractive offer for GWS I would have thought assuming they still get their guy at 4...just spitballing

Have to admit, it does seem to balance out the trade a bit more. I'd be ok with that

Not necessarily by Adelaide, but Freo could also be looking to use 4 to springboard higher if there is any validity to it.

Adelaide need young, top end talent - so sliding back two spots and grabbing another first would make some sense for them. For a team in a rebuild and where they are, they really need to add a fair few more top quality youngsters after basically missing out on the 2018 gravy train, despite having two picks inside 20 and three inside 30.

AFL really need to introduce teams to be able to trade draftees on the day.

Example might be, GWS want Andrew and other teams want Callaghan.

GWS pick Callaghan and Fremantle has pick 6 (8) select Andrew. Both teams trade Callaghan plus change for Andrew.

Hope not, sellers market this one. You want 6 to guarantee your player, you burn 19 in the process. When we got McCasey I think we swapped 4 for GWS 6 and their future first, valued at around 16 at a guess. Apologies if something else went back, but I don't recall it happening that way.

I wouldn't do this deal if I am Freo. This draft does not bat deep.
Give me quality of quantity of draft picks any day.

If Freo are willing to give up 19 in this proposed deal, I would be asking for a future 2nd round pick from the Crows instead of a pick in the 30s or so in this year's draft.

Interesting rumour nonetheless.
