The interesting thing about MCC members is that the Ski Holidayer image is mostly false.

When I walk past on gameday, which is weekly, the people going in are agonisingly middle class blokes from suburbs like Ringwood and Rowville. It's hardly a thing of smuggery or affluence. It's weird.

Interesting comment but what is relevant to Etihad is they dont go, just like Melbourne Footy Club members - Melbourne play North & the Suns at Etihad later this season, the North game is a Melbourne home game.

Let me get this 100% straight.
I can bring in a packet of potato chips and a plastic bottle of Coke, and nobody will stop me.
True of False?

Problem with Etihad is getting to and from, find the footbridge is constantly overcrowded and stagnates. MCG works well because it spills out to parklands with car parking, trains, trams and walking paths to the city all a short distance away. For the Richmond vs Pies game in rd 3, 80,000+ and i was in the city in 20 mins, last week St Kilda vs Pies there were about 40k and it took 30 mins to get across the bridge to the tram stop

No way.

Me and my mate left at midway through the song. I was at the tram stop, from my seat, in like 15 minutes. If I was by myself, I could've gotten there in like half that time.

But it's still weird why they didn't make a footbridge go toward the wing, rather than the pocket...

Hope this is the right place to ask but I have a very basic question:

I'm not an AFL/club member, and usually just turn up on the day to the Etihad and buy $20 GA tickets at the gate. I usually sit up on level 3 on the wing, as far down as possible. My question, the 'premium' seating on level 3 (the first 10 or so rows up on level 3 wings) - are they the premium GA tickets that you can buy for $30 at the gates? Or are they club member tickets? I've looked on the Ticketmaster website for tickets to the Carlton vs St Kilda game and 'Reserved Seating' on level 3 appears to only be bays 27, 28 and 42 which are not on the wing.

I might be getting confused, but all I'm really asking is what seats do the $30 premium GA tickets refer to, and is it likely that I'll be able to turn up early on Monday nights for the Carlton St Kilda game and purchase tickets for Level 3 up in one of the front few rows?

The Ticketmaster seating arrangement, layout and pricing seem quite different to what's actually available when you purchase tickets at the gate.

I'm interested in this also - I have a club membership and will be in Melbourne for North v Adelaide. I'd be interested to know where I can sit and what the view is like from Level 3? I looked at upgrading but the tickets they seem to provide are in the pocket on Lv 2, I think i'd rather sit on Lv 3 on the wing.

Level 3 is good if you are in the first few rows, day A-E

I personally would go level 2 pocket

Thanks, are the first few rows like A-E the 'premium' general admission that you can purchase at the gates on the day, or are those rows for club members? And is that area designated seats? Cheers

Not sure, I know they aren't GA on the wings but behind the goals (50m arc) they might be?
Sorry not an expert

You don't deserve football if you whinge about Etihad.

It's probably, consistently, tidier and more easily accessible than the 'G. Most Melburnians do not live in the CBD, and they get a train to the footy: a train which stops about 150 metres from the gates. The stadium has good legroom, great viewing, plenty of toilets, and a good atmosphere even with 30,000.

Literally, what else do you want?
another MCG?. Etihad is easily the second best ground in Australia, followed closely buy Suncorp. & is not that difficult to get to. the MCG has the advantage of having the Parklands around it.

name another major stadium around the country that is easier to access, or has facilities even good as what Etihad does?

You've misconstrued my whole post. I think Etihad is fantastic.

Plenty happening at Etihad since Ian Collins retired in a personnel sense – several staff in recent months have either resigned or being made redundant with new CEO also hiring key staff he’s worked with before.
Most recently (last week apparently) former VFL player Nick Sautner was made redundant from his high profile role at the venue.
Could the AFL be making a serious play for the “buy out” and the stadium owners are reducing their risk/staff costs in anticipation.
Stay tuned…………..

Apparently the roof is open for the Socceroos tonight. Does anyone have any idea why, considering the coldness of the night?

Surprised the seats are in. I thought there was a worry about the grass being damaged?
I am too. Perhaps they pay extra ground-rental fee to repair the grass before Friday night's AFL? Can't be too bad given how often they do it at ANZ. Now that the surface is pretty good at the Dome they can afford to?
Why not bring in the ends as well as the sides though?
