appendix is about to burst, the reason i ask is i'm doubled over in excrutiating pain..

The typical history includes pain starting centrally (periumbilical) before localizing to the right iliac fossa (the lower right side of the abdomen); this is due to the poor localizing (spatial) property of visceral nerves from the mid-gut, followed by the involvement of somatic nerves (parietal peritoneum) as the inflammation progresses. The pain is usually associated with loss of appetite and fever, although the latter isn't a necessary symptom. Nausea or vomiting may occur. With the typical type, diagnosis is easier to make, surgery occurs earlier and findings are often less severe.[1]

Exactly Dean, it's always the thing that goes through my head first too.

And also, Wikipedia is never wrong, so get yourself to the hospital and they'll operate immediately, but make sure you let them know you posted on BigFooty before they operate, I hear you get 50% off your medical bills if you're a BigFooty poster

Yes, telling them is very important as we've done a deal regarding referrals. If you don't make it, the good news is that we've also got a deal with Tobin Bros so it's a win/win for us.

the pain has subsided but i might take a day off tomorrow anyway and see a doctor, thanks for your concern frederick.

I've had my appendix removed before it was about to burst. My symptoms:

- Mild stomach ache when I woke up (central abdomen). Ignored it that day even though it was getting worse.
- The next day, extreme pain in the bottom right abdomen
- Urinating very frequently
- Legs went totally numb, so much so that I couldn't walk
- Loss of appetite
- Vomiting numerous times despite not having eaten anything

The pain does subside (only for a few minutes) but generally it gets worse and worse. Considering it only started off as a typical stomach ache, then it'd be best to see a doctor. If it ends up bursting, could be fatal (but don't worry, you'd definitely know something was seriously wrong way before that happens, pain would be too excruciating to ignore).

I had my appendix out 15 years ago.

I didn't really have excruciating pain, it was more a real sensitivity in the area. I couldn't eat or drink on the Friday night, and then woke up Saturday really sore and pale.

Went and had it out just before it burst.

Took about 2 months to recover I reckon.

Wow, was there any complications from surgery?

I stayed in hospital for 5 days after the operation, vomited/slept alot, but was fine after that (although I wasn't eating much). Was eating normally a week later.

Probably just gas.

Haha, that's exactly what my parents said when it happened.

yeh me too....2 months sounds a bit rich...

however these days it's only an overnight procedure because they operate through the BELLY BUTTON!!!1

i think if your stomach is that bad you should go to the nearby clinic or doctor because people have died from a burst appendix

one symptom i felt was the feeling like my stomach muscles were bieng twisted around and cut up...

You have to bear in mind that my operation was done in a country surgery. Instead of going through the belly button, they cut a 10cm hole where the appendix was. It was just about to burst, according to the doctor.

I had about 7 stitches and they tore twice, thus delaying the healing process. The operation occurred in mid-December and it wasn't until about mid-February when it had fully healed.

I wouldn't take any chances if I were youu nicky you should go to your local hospital and get it checked out,a burst appendix is very serious business. It's better to be safe than sorry.
