Osler and Browney in the Ellinbank league both finished the round on 100 goals. Osler snagged his 5th of the day and 100th of the season in the opening seconds of the last quarter. Browney didn't crack it for his 9th and 100th until the latter stages of the final quarter after a couple of misses.

It's Osler by a nose in the EDFL.

He's been picked in the VCFL rep squad for next week, according to the local paper, so he must be able to go.

I don't know much about the CWAFL except it is obviously in a rugby stronghold and only has four senior clubs - Cowra, Orange, Bathurst and Dubbo - and five reserves teams, all of the above plus Mudgee.
Smith isn't listed on Cowra's website as having played more than 30 games for the club so I assume he's in the town for work and that just happens to be the only footy around.
However, you've still got to be able to kick the goals, it's a skill that can prove beyond even the best of footballers.
Remember, 34 goals means the bloke must have got at least 34 kicks.
I usually took half a dozen games to get that many.

BTW Orange forfeited its third meeting against Cowra on the weekend, or it could have all happened again.

The fourth meeting between Orange and Cowra was on the weekend and full credit to Orange, who kicked four goals for the match.
Unfortunately for them, Matt Smith beat up on them again, kicking an amazing 31 goals to take his tally against the Tigers to 93 in just three matches!!!

Cowra 51.12 318 def Orange 0.1 1 (Smith 27)
Cowra 51.18 324 def Orange 0.3 3 (Smith 35)
Cowra defeated Orange on forfeit
Cowra 49.14 308 def Orange 4.5 29 (Smith 31)

" Here it is"

Was it 34 or 35 goals to Matt Smith??

And what is his curent season tally??

The original email I received said he kicked 34, but the Cowra website says 35.
You could decide to take either, but I suppose the league one (34) might be what he is credited with.
As for his season tally, it is not listed on the website, but I have emailed them and will pass it on as soon as I find out.
However, he must be pushing towards 200.

I'm still waiting for the CWAFL to tell me exactly how many goals Matt Smith has kicked, but he booted another 18 on the weekend for Cowra against Bathurst.
Cowra kicked 32.21 213 to Bathurst's 3.5 23.
What is out of the ordinary about that?
Bathurst is second on the ladder to Cowra.
Kind of makes West Coast's win over Adelaide seem pretty run of the mill!!!

By the way, Doug Lavis kicked 10 goals for CDHBU against Jerilderie on the weekend and now has 95 for the season.
Wahgunyah's Ray Robins kicked 11 v Rennie, giving him 10, 13 and 11 in his last three matches - he has 51 from nine outings and has played less than a half in three or four of those due to injury.

I can finally tell you all officially that Matthew Smith has kicked an unbelievable 186 goals for the season for Cowra.
From 11 matches!!!!!!
That is an average of 16.73 goals per match.
Regardless of the standard, I don't think that is an effort that has ever been topped.
And with two home and away matches to come (including another one against Orange), plus at least two finals, there is a fair bet that he will reach his 200.

Cowra and Matt Smith's season:

April 1 @ Cowra: Cowra 30.29 209 def Bathurst Bushrangers 8.5 53 - Smith 11 (total 11)

Ashley Flavel from West Coburg(9), only played one of the bottom teams to date and has 26 to this name already after round 5 will be a huge chance in my opinion!

Bit of work ahead of the flavsta to kick 100??

Tim Trail kicked his 100 for Mirboo Nth(Mid Gippsland F L) on the weekend after kicking 10 goals for the game, brings him to a total of 104.

Doug Lavis kicked five for CDHBU against Billabong Crows in the Coreen and District league on Saturday to move to exactly 100.
It's his second ton in a row.

Matt Smith booted another eight for Cowra in the CWAFL to move to 194 from 12 matches.
Barring a forfeit, he will reach his 200 against Orange this week, and also his 100 against Orange (He has 93 against the Tigers alone).

Can anyone give us some history on Matt Smith??
Age? Past Clubs? etc??
Obviously this league is NSW is not of a real high standard, but he must of played some good footy somewhere cos i doubt i could kick 200 in the juniors??

A setback for Matt Smith in his bid to become only the 12th player to kick 200 goals in a season.

Orange has opted out of any more torture and forfeited to Cowra tomorrow for the second time this season.
Smith must now wait until next Saturday's second semi final against Bathurst at Cowra.

what team and league is this?

Wakool is in the Golden Rivers league west of Deniliquin in southern NSW/northern Victoria.

Its clubs, in ladder order with one round to play, are: Nullawil, Wakool, Murrabit, Wandella, Hay, Quambatook, Ultima, Macorna and Moulamein.

Wandella plays Hay in the last round, with Hay needing to win by 40 points to make the finals.

Congratulations go to Matthew Smith, who became the 12th player to kick 200 goals in a season in the Central West AFL second semi final for Cowra against Bathurst last weekend.
Smith reached the milestone in the third quarter of what was his 13th match for the season, going on to finish with 10 goals for the day and 204 for the season as Cowra qualified for the grand final with a 10-goal plus win.
Will such a massive personal achievement merge into premiership success?
It certainly deserves it.

As Pekay said, Matt Smith did indeed finish on 213 goals for the season.
He kicked six in Cowra's massive 24.13 157 to 13.4 82 grand final victory over Bathurst to give him 210 for the Blues, and also kicked three in an interleague match in midseason to give him the final figure of 213.
A massive effort and well done to Cowra on going through the season undefeated to win their first premiership since 1986.
