In my opinion give Buckley the job as soon as he wants it. He proved in his playing days that he was a great leader, and he knows the game inside out. Most of all as on the field he wont accept second best or below par so he would show all the deadwood in the playing department the door.

Interesting. I reckon Buckley needs at least a year as an assistant coach and probably more. I wonder if Gavin Brown is ready and or up to it? Guy McKenna has been passed up a few times. That may or may not be relevant. It may also be relevant or otherwise that Brown got the VFL gig. I don’t have a good feeling about Voss. Just a hunch.

Interesting to note that in a pre season ladder discussion on 3AW Buckley had us down for 7th. I was surprised he rated us that low. Maybe he was right and maybe he is very astute and very in tune with the real quality of the players on our list. I must say I though higher than 7th myself and was surprised Buckley didn’t actually over rate us while being conscious of not appearing biased but it did seem to be his genuine belief.

If Mick's contract does not get renewed and we do end up looking for a new Coach why not let Guy McKenna have a go! I just don't think Buckley is ready for a Coaching role, he needs some more experience away from the club. Let's not forget what happened when Tony Shaw got the role! Just my opinion.

The guy who i would have is right under our noses.
Brad Scott, the guy is a two time premiership player, hard as nails,astute football brain with an understanding of what is required in the modern game, he takes no prisoners and is respected .
The guy has prescence and doesn,t take second best.

Yeah good one forgot about him he would be great. Still like McKenna I know alot of people are saying he is like a mini MM but I do not agree. He is forced to coach the way he is told. I know for a fact that he has different views than MM and I am sure he would coach differently if given the opportunity. MM holds all the cards and controls everyone. He has the final decision on everything.

Brown has full control over the VFL squad atm, lets see how that goes 1st (not too well so far).
Mckenna would be MM mkII hasn't played or coached under anyone else so no to him mise well keep mick.
Chocco Williams has stated one day he would love to come back and coach the pies, I for one would love to see him back at the pies.
The other person who would make a great coach is G.O'donnell played under sheeds and coached under leigh during the lions golden era, leigh 2 years back said any team that got him as head coach would be well served.

Is it possible that MM may already have given up on 2008? Just can't understand why he persists with his experiments when the team seems to be foundering from lack of stability.

Or is it all about to fall into place?

No idea.

All i can say is MM seems to have brain-fades like Medhurst used to. Last year MM was the coach of 2007 according to almost everybody.
Gets the best out of his team, he's a super coach for young teams etc etc etc.

Then he has a few bad days at the park and everybody hates him?

Like i said all i can say about MM is he does mostly good things but he does put in WEIRD and BAD gameplans like the one against the Hawks. That was just shocking. Brain-fades like Medhurst circa 2007, hopefully he gets the mind working soon because at the moment MM's coaching is pretty bad.

Mmm good point somebody above made. One of the things I think we really miss this year is Buckley.
Even when he wasn't on the ground he was strict, demanded the best and there was NOOOO slacking. Brought the best out of players either due to envy to be like Buckley or fear to ensure Buckley never singled them out.

Either way it showed the boys from the men.

Buckley as coach doesn't sound too bad. He'd be in a position of power again and he'd make it clear. You play well or your contract is over. Period.
