Don't be misled: AOD9604 is definitely a performance-enhancing drug

So has anyone shown that AOD9604 is defintely a performance enhancing drug?

Doesn't matter it was BANNED under S0. You abide by the laws at the time and the reason why Essendon will get smashed by ASADA is because if you could use the "but it's not performance enhancing" excuse every single AFL club would be pumping their players full of steroids that are not yet tested and placed on the ban list. It's very simple.

No, I'm suggesting that Wada/Asada have been formed to keep the integrity of international sport on a level playing field and Afl has employed parts of there charter but not all of it for our local sport. If you want to bring the international laws into this argument, lets have the whole show not selected. I don't think 1 club would be clean of sanctions/bans. I also don't think local sport in USA (NBA.Gridiron, etc) give a flying Fook about WADA nor should we. AFL can look after itself.

I don't think you understand what Wada is or the mechanisms at work here, the AFL can not go it alone they would lose all government funding just to start.

You see like most government organisations asada is no doubt staffed by mates and relo's of polies or mates and relo's of financial backers of polies.

You don't piss them off, when you need the government to upgrade and build stadiums help fund expansion teams etc.

Not to mention the fact that the AFL is trying to go regional 50-60 years from now so ignoring Wada and getting black listed by them internationally is insane.

Then there's the situation that the AFL is not the juggernaut you think. it is, it's still in its a small fish in qld and nsw the largest grow markets in the country.

You suggestion would knock the AFL back 30 years surrender hard fought funding which would then go to soccer and rugby league.

Hell I've worked with local councils back in Sydney would like nothing more then to kick out local Aussie ruled teams simply because they grew up in an era where it was viewed as a Victorian sport.

Then there's the fact that the AFL has snapped up most local competitions and branded them as alf which means athletes can't play Aussie rules and compete in other sports.

There's not going to be any fight at most essendon will appeal and make a big public who hare about it but that's it.

You lose draft picks all points for this year and if thymosin was used in addition to aod you'll loose a few players as well.

Evans isn't a moron, the boasting and carrying on is for bombers supporters and sponsor's but make no mistake they aren't fighting this they are trying to negotiate a decision favourable to them. They can threaten all they like but they won't pull the pin.

''Jobe has been really good,'' Alessio said. ''The doctors have been really enthused by his rate of recovery, in terms of the range of motion in the shoulder and just the preliminary work he has been able to do.
''Remembering that it is a bone break, so it does take a certain amount of time for it to heal, but from all reports the operation was good and the wound itself has healed really well.

Metabolic has discovered that AOD9604 can stimulate osteogenesis (new bone formation) in cell culture and can improve the mechanical properties of bone in animal models of osteoporosis. This encouraging efficacy d
ata when combined with the very favourable safety profile of AOD9604 in toxicology studies and human clinical trials provides a strong rationale for use in settings where bone repair is compromised. Examples include non-union fractures, indications where bone growth needs to be stimulated such as in spinal fusion or dental bone grafts and in prevention of fracture eg osteoporosis. AOD9604 could offer advantages over existing productshttp://www.hypermed.com.au/Conditions/AOD9604.htm

Watson's injury status is not relevant to this board.

Just to clarify mods;

we are not allowed to discuss PED benefits in regards to injury recovery essendon may be enjoying, due to allegedly banned drugs?

Given their PED program finished a year ago, what are you basing your strongly held belief that Watson has recovered faster than normal due to AOD

Are you saying he's still taking AOD, if so do you have evidence supporting this conclusion?

Are you saying the bone repair benefits of AOD will last over 12 months, if so please highlight the section in the study where this was shown?

Are you saying this just because you googled bone and AOD and found a cool paragraph?

Cool that a product which has only shown potential in cell culture, but nothing in pre clinical or clinical testing, somehow has an affect on a fracture 12 months after administration.

Key Research Findings

The research results provide evidence that AOD9604:

1. Has a positive (anabolic) effect on cartilage tissue formation. AOD9604 was found to enhance

cartilage tissue formation by increasing the proteoglycan (cellular matrix) and collagen content

of cartilage;

2. Enhances the differentiation of muscle progenitor cells (cells that create muscle cells) to

muscle cells.

Good night and sleep well.

Results from past

in-vitro, pre-clinical and human clinical testing of AOD9604 provide clear scientific and medical evidence that AOD9604 does not increase Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) levels. Furthermore, there is no evidence that AOD9604 dosing increases the number of muscle or cartilage cells.
