Not yet. Wouldn't be worth throwing cash at a fev or a yze, unless we would get them around market price. We have nothing to offer except draft picks and I hope we dont use our top picks for players again.

Rather wait until our youger players develope more than top up.

The secret is to leave enough space to keep the young guns.

Unless it's a KPP. No point getting another small as we have enough.
Fevola fits the bill as a talented KPP with plenty of years ahead of him.
If our teams peaks in say 3 years then Fevola would still be what 27 or 28.

Discipline can be adjusted, and worth the effort when the talent is there.

Simmonds at CHF was one of our biggest downfalls this year. He's a ruckman. Our young talls aren't ready yet.

Imagine the scoring potential with Richo at FF, Fevola at CHF, Brown, Pettifer, Tambling.

Look at the last 5 years of premierships and their CHF.

To say we don't want Fevola is madness.

The flaw in that theory is that Fevola is unproven as a CHF. He is probably not fit enough to cover the ground. His best footy is playing in the same style as Barry Hall, that hybrid CHF-FF position that unfortunately Richo already plays in. Tough to see them fitting in the same team and Richo isn't going anywhere for at least 2 years.

It would be a return to the Roach-Taylor days. Doesn't make much sense spending large chunks of cash doubling up on the one position that we are actually all right in.

In 3 years we would have lost Gaspar, Kellaway, Stafford and maybe Richo. There is no question that we need quality KPP, alot depends how the young FPP develope in the next 12 months.

Already posted this on another thread Weaver but i have thought about this long and hard and IMHO i cannot see the logic in going after Fevola ....... "unless"..... Richo`s knee troubles are a lot worse than anyone is letting on ;)

Roach and Taylor were similar age.Richo is in the twighlight of his career.Maybe 2 good years left.

Fev has potentially 8

Besides,it was a bad move getting rid of Taylor.Any coach worth 2 cents can work out how to use mutple kp forwards. If cornflakes can do it,I'm sure Terry can.

Try to imagine Rich playing a Lynch type - stay in the goalsquare and wrestle game and felova playing the leading role between FF and CHF. Would make it very hard for teams to double team both of them. Richo could play 3 more years in that style of play.
So perhaps Fevola is placed in a forward pocket and Scultz or Pattison take CHF.
Teams would need 2 very good tall defenders to cover them - one that can wrestle and one that can keep up with a fast lead.

That would presume that Richo and Fevola both knew how to play football as oppossed to having to share the one brain cell.

Let's just admit it. Richo is Richo, we love him, but he ain't the sharpest pencil and doesn't have the first idea about complex things like leading and sharing and not going to the ball. And Fevola? Dreams of being half as bright as Richo.

I think Richo can play until he's at least 35. He still moves very well and he loves the Tiges :D. There is no reason he can't do an Alistair Lynch and play another 5 years or even more.

It is a comforting thought. 12 years down and just 5 to go before we can building a functioning forward line.

So we spend $900k on keeping Fevola in reserve until Richo retires? Bargain.
Yeah so?What a novel idea.Pay somewhere near 100% of our salary cap like most of the other clubs. It's not like he'll be sitting on the bench. While we have him in 'reserve' he'll be kicking 75+ goals a season.

Terry's a smart bloke.I'm sure he can get 2 kp forwards to function in the one forward line. It's not rocket science.(luckily, knowing Fev. :D )

Who says you actually need to play 2 forwards exactly where they are named on the team sheet. This is what i would try to mould into next year, thats if we do get fev

Pettifer----------Richo-----------Fevola

Brown-----Pattison/Simmonds----Tambling

Its all about tactics, richo to wrestle in the goalsquare, fevola to lead into space with brown, petts and tambo crumbing at the feet. How the hell would opposition mark up on that cracking forward line.
