rumours are that doveton have crashed and burnt after winning the divvy 2 flag

most players disappeared, new president lasted 2 weeks before running away too. 2019 doveton players owed total of more than $70,000 from last years match payments with no hope of seeing any money.

new president started ok then found the club owed money to sfnl leagure + for booze and food with no money to pay bills so he hoofed it. doveton are screwed becase boze and food suppliers wont deal with them so can't stick bar or canteen

no committee, no cash, no hope for doveton

i've spoken with a couple of guys who left doveton recently b/c outstanding match payments

in div 1 need a good and expereinced president to get the cashflow happening. if doveton dont have a top committee then no chance in div 1 or even div 2

[ Yes the club does owe a lot of money mostly because the president of the last few years let it get out of hand and tried to do it all himself and kept getting further in debt and not telling anyone and he kept paying most players way over what they were worth because a fair few were at the start of the season sticking there hands out and demanding more in which he stupidly paid these greedy selfish players because he wanted success a lot of these players that are leaving is because they know they won’t get much money if they stayed if any at all so they have jumped ship and left the club that had well and truly looked after them over the past few years money wise and yes some are still owed and they did have trouble getting there money at times these deals were all done buy the president and he has jumped ship and left the place like this the players are using this as a excuse to leave and chase easy cash or play lower standard football there beef was with the x president and he’s gone so if it was true they were leaving because of the money situation and him he’s gone so no reason to leave you are close to the debt amount but that the club over all most of them have received all or a fair whack of what they were meant to be paid for the year and shouldn’t be sooking and using it as a excuse for leaving because they were being paid more than there worth so it’s about even does go to show that they are not prepared to help the club in tough times at all unfortunately it’s not about the team or club it’s about them hopefully the club can battle through this and stay alive

You cant just blame the President, come on. The club have a few people on their committee namely the treasurer, secretary etc. For a Div 2 committee to either not understand, control or more importantly question/challenge the President and allow the club to run into financial turmoil they are also to blame. Take on the role then one assumes they know what they are doing and provide good governence for the long term benefit of the club. Even the coach needs to be accountable, yeah great having Robbo running around for 6 games but at what cost and benefit NOW to the club when they are financially rooted. Majority of crap payers putting their hand out were peeved Robbo been getting big $$, minimal training, minimal games and 0 social benefit. Message for every clubs committees, you need to challenge questionable deals in place by President, Coaches etc especially when $$ involved otherwise your presence on it is wasted as you have no control and when s**t hits fan people will also blame you

Yes I agree they should of challenged him they sat back and let him do what he wanted so they are to blame to and the the coach did ask him about it he said it was all under control when the coach actually found out what some were getting he was horrified as I am and I do agree with you on most of that

I for one totally agree the committee sat back and enjoyed the good times the president always was telling them to but out he’s got it under control they were to weak to stand up to him because they didn’t want the hassle you are spot on with most things you are saying they should of done all that and stopped it but they didn’t and this is the consequences of it
 
Once again the SFL has been asleep at the wheel. They should have dealt with this matter in October as soon as Doveton started their mutterings about wanting to stay in Div2. Clearly there was something not right, and they should have someone in there making serious enquiries and not listening to the crap coming out of the club.

There is no way Doveton can be permitted to play in Div 1, and therefore at this late stage it means that there will probably be a bye. What a joke! Then what do you do with Doveton? Keep them in Div2? If so, they should be penalised 24 points.
It is all good to blame the players, but all you have to say is no!. The hardest word to say sometimes, but there it is. It may mean that you do not win a flag for a few years, but it may result in the club will surviving for many years.

Were did you hear that as the club dosent have a president atm there is a meeting to appoint a new one the club cannot now make any decision with out the full committee and life members vote on it as I think they have learnt a hard lesson letting one person decide on what happens with everything
