Copy and paste every year. All just words, how about fronting up like a leader should.
She was until disgusting people started to throw personal attacks and threats towards her.

What difference does it make if she says the same thing word for word on camera or through social media? It would be just words like it is in a letter.

She is sending a letter because it's mid-season and there is a lot of work to be done in the second half of the year. No one is happy with our current predicament.

The point is that words are meaningless. I don't need a letter from her for reassurance. Anyone who does lives in la la land.

We are shit. We will continue to be for at least the immediate future. It may or may not turn soon though. Time will tell but letters like this are pointless

To you and the hardcore contingent of Bigfooty whiners, I am sure it is pointless.

For the majority of members, I reckon they would appreciate the update and to hear that the president acknowledges the frustration, her reassurance that there is positivity internally and her belief that we remain on the right long term path.

Yeah fair enough

Don't think any regular on here would class me as a club lickspittle so with that in mind - she does.

She's regularly at the club chatting with other supporters.

She regularly speaks and takes Q&A at social club pre/post match gatherings. The only other leaders I recall ever doing this are Greg Miller and Eugene Arocca. The rest have been ghosts.

She stalked and caught the greatest coach of this millennium to lead and resuscitate the team.

I'd say she's very much been fronting up on her shift.

Yeah, but apart from all that...

Whats the point of this statement? If anything it proves how we are worse off than what they realised at the beginning of the year.

I like Sonja so no dramas there but what kind of annoys me is the (the wins will come) in brackets just assuming that everything will be peachy. Absolutely no guarantee things come good while this club continues to free fall.

Yep, just feels like we keep kicking the can down the road to avoid taking accountability for what’s happening now!

Cool, where has she been when the shit started to hit the fan this year?. I have no issue with what she’s achieved previously. But she’s been MIA this year. Our coach is buckling under pressure to the point where it’s now affecting his game day coaching. A leader would put themselves front and centre, hasn’t happened.

Not looking to change anyone else’s opinion, but that is mine. 👍

As I said if you attend membership events on game day she's a regular speaker. She's sent periodic member update letters.

Not being sarcastic here - what comms were you hoping for? Weekly column updates? Vlogs?

If she was to jump in with a President Speaks address each time our team got stitched up it'd look silly in record time.

She's not infallible but she had eclipsed her predecessor inside a week.
Let's be serious, while Buckley was president in abesentia, Sonja was likely President in everything but title.

I want to believe that her name sits along side Casey more than it does Buckley or Brayshaw. Dunno if that makes me a lickspittle or not but I am absolutely a fan and she has shown the ability to make strong and hard decisions.

That said the email is fluff telling us not much and none of it really anything that people on here aren't going to already know.

We're sh*t, we will keep trying not to be sh*t, we're probably gonna be sh*t for a bit longer

Her to front up on twitter despite so called North people pushing her from the platform?

she was more public than a lot of football admin till our own fans shat on it.

I'm not going to make direct quotes here, but I can assure you that Sonja is not one to blame "other factors" for the on-field performances. She is prepared to call it more bluntly than you'd expect and she, like all of us here know that the road to success is steep and rough. And it will take a while to get from where we are to where we need to be. I truly don't think that she is the type to avoid accountability, but equally, she isn't the type to hang people out to dry by publicly shaming them in a message to members or in the media.

So again, you expect her to respond to losses more regularly but she's not allowed to use words. She's supposed to support Clarko but not in the way that he wants her to support him but rather in a way that is visible to you. Isn't that supporting you rather than him?

His last three weeks have been sensational.

35 and a goal
27 and 2 goals
35 and a goal

Enhanced ✅
Numbers are good but for most of the year his disposal particularly inside 50 has been poor. Point was I don’t think he’s having his best year or anything. His reputation was already very good and it has stayed that way.

What do people want her to say/do at this point? genuine question

Very good question. Some want her to say nothing and others want her to respond more. It's obvious that you can't satisfy both groups.

What we can see from past actions that she won't do is specifically shitcan or name and shame club employees just to appease an online lynch mob. Where personnel changes become necessary, she has shown that she is willing to attend to that within the 4 walls, with respect and dignity, and not through the media.

Not sure why the bloke who saved the club from going to Queensland, presided over the vast majority of debt reduction and our best period of on-field performance for 25 years, and created the foundation for long term off-field stability, is not respected.

Um... are we confusing past presidents here? Ben Buckley is due some credit but you seem to be giving him kudos for many of the achievements of James Brayshaw.

I think Eddie's idea about moving our training base to the Northern suburbs, is a good one.

I think once we have a clear long term plan, this will strengthen the club.

ATM we are an easy target, because no-one knows what will happen to North, once they exit Tasmania.

There’s nothing she can state in the letter that’ll make people happy.

Unless she said all our home games will be back in Melbourne when the tassie deal is done. Some more info regarding this topic would have been nice.
Presumably there are conversations happening behind the scenes which have some sensitivity attached and are best not aired in the public domain at this point.

I’m fine with the letter, I think she struck the right tone. As has been pointed out, damned if you do, damned if you don’t in the current circumstance.

Sure and if that happens then perfect.

On no level is this season acceptable - no matter how positive we can try and be there needs to be accountability come the end of the season.

From my perspective there are two very obvious ones:

Kevin White
And either Rawlings or Clayton (doubt we would get rid of both)
At least one change of assistant coaches as well

This reminds me of the membership threads where some posters would say stop sending me lanyards and bumper stickers, it's a waste of money, and then when we ditched them, a lot of us asked why.
You'll never please everyone.
What she's done is send out a letter addressing the concerns we all feel, and explaining where the club sees itself.
And some people didn't want it.
The fact is, there are some sad sacks around that you just can't please.
So you make an effort for the rest of us and get on with things. Pretty simple.
